Audio Refinement Complete Alpha vs YBA Design
Yes I own a complete Alpha, bought new and I love it. I have not heard the YBA unit
Reference 3A DeCapo " Blue Tak" question
Actually, for some of us this is where audio gets fun. When trying various speaker interfaces I wasn't measuring, wasn't really analyzing. I was listening to music that moves me. When I was impressed with how I was enjoying the music or the sound ...
Reference 3A DeCapo " Blue Tak" question
Blue tak is not as bad as lead or sorbethane at killing the sound of my monitors, but it does mess with the response and micro-dynamics. Bigshutterbug is right. I'd like to try roller bearings someday, but Vibrapods seem to allow most of the music...
Speaker cables comparison chart:: Much Needed
I've probably had 20 or so pairs of commercially available speaker cables in my system, priced from $85 to well over $1000, all broken in, and of many different geometries. At their best, when they have not been recently been bent and moved and the...

I'll try to post again when I get more time, but if you'll search for mapleshade in the cables forum you'll see some of my other posts about them. Pluses and minuses, but mostly pluses.Chris

I had very poor results with some highly regarded (and expensive) speaker cables, like some brands that you mention.I have very good results with Mapleshade, Nordost Blue Heaven (more forgiving than others), and Morrow SP2, in my two systems. I al...
Speaker cables comparison chart:: Much Needed
Surveying what's out there and making a paper value judgement is an impossible task in my opinion. there are way too many manufacturers, with different models and geometries, and each audio system will be somewhat different.Dive in and try a few s...
Tube guy gets a B&K: tubes vs solid state
River,I would love to hear of your impressions after you put the Mapleshade speaker wire into the system.
6SN7 Tube pre amp with great sound staging capabil
I kind of like my AE-3 MkII preamp.
Mapleshade Double Helix Speaker Cables
I think they are wonderful too. I put a little torque on the binding posts with a wrench to keep them in place.

I too disagree with Csontos. You certainly can overdue detail, emphasizing the edges of notes, exposing too much hf grain, instead of a good balance with tone and warm weight.I believe its also possible that the tolerable limit of detail may be re...
Tube guy gets a B&K: tubes vs solid state
Speaker wire certainly does matter. I have 4 pair by 3 manufacturers and one DIY. They are all very different and quite consistent each time I switch them in.
Tube guy gets a B&K: tubes vs solid state
River,That's quite a coincidence on the Helix speaker cable. at the time I was auditioning quite a few speaker cables (one at a time of course) sending most of them back or just borrowing. The Mapleshade was a bit too brightly lit, but there was s...

I'm going to throw you a curve, but I think you would find me correct. Try Mapleshade speaker wire with the Marantz. It will maximize the openness of your system and maximize the bass definition. You will have to suffer though a break-in period, e...
Morrow Audio Cables Feedback
MA-2 interconnect was the sweet spot for me.
