millercarbon,Belt or chain?Neither.Gear drive!!!!!!
What do you mean you “heard” the turntable
I was listening to my VPI Traveler w/Zu DL-103 MkII in my system, pulled that 'table and transferred my Garrard 301/Ortofon AS-309 into it's place using the same Zu cartridge. Everything else in the system was exactly the same. Immediately the idl...
Back to the drawing board
You can use Worst Buy to shop prices, but I'd never advise you to use them to demo any speaker for SQ. Unknowledgeable sales staff, random setup, and all the rest of Worst Buy's other business practices rule them out for a serious listening experi...
Stopping Vibration from Walmart trucks
Does your city/county have a noise abatement officer? If so, ask the officer to stop by when the trucks are there so you can have your complaint verified. Then take it up with WalMart management. See if you can convince them to put up a sonic barr...

Which integrated amp for better musicality - Parasound Hint vs Primaluna vs ???
Of the choices in your OP my vote would be for the Primaluna. However - I'd strongly advise you to check out the Rogue Cronus Magnum II. Great integrated, USA made, owner Mark O'Brien is always reachable by e-mail or (best) by phone and is extremel...
Power conditioner or outlet?
cleeds was spot on when he suggested a whole house surge protector. Great insurance for a small $ outlay. I lost a large screen TV about a decade ago due to a power outage followed by a strong power surge as the power was being restored. A neighbo...
The 70’s are back
Before you condemn the $4,000 price tag of the new L100's you should think about what a pair of L100's (or L100a's) cost in the mid-1970's and see what that works out to in today's dollars.
What is the fascination?
What so great about top-of-the-line vintage idler 'tables, high quality long tonearms, and the better of the old fashioned low compliance cartridges? You have to hear them to understand. Otherwise spouting off about something you've never heard and...
Help me make a decision! Turntable overload
I wouldn't advise you to get a 2M Black if you go for the Pioneer  PLX 1000. The tonearm doesn't really suit the Black. You would be wasting the money. If you like the 2M series, stick with the Bronze or lower.
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
I question whether it's the new cable that's burning in or is it the listener getting used to them?
What were your humble beginnings on the path to high end audio?
I'm old :-)For me, it all started when I was in the seventh grade (1958). Some friends and I used to go down into the finished basement of one of the guys homes after school to listen to our rock n roll records on this dads system, which consisted...
CDs Vs LPs
CD's for convenience, but that often degenerates into plain ol' background music for doing chores around the house, entertaining groups of people, etc. When I really want to listen to music (and have the time to do just that) I'll opt for LP's ever...
Dynaco A25 -Hard to Believe
The A25 is a very good speaker, but these days I would only buy a speaker that was much more efficient.SB
