Why is solid state more popular when tubes are better?
Tube amps are LOW FI , not HIFI, since 50 years Talking about "fidelity" : tube technology is inferior to well designed SS technology, and deprecated since 50 years Tube tech provide : high distorsion, high noise, high heat, low power, low relia...
Quick Question About Power Cables
Power cables have definitely nothing to do with sound.
What is your experience with amp power?
Considering that you use a well designed amp that can provide 6dB dynamic headroom : for Hifi listening you will **NEVER** need more than 2x50W RMS/continuous 0.5%THD-20Hz-20KHz ( 6dB dynamic headroom ~ 2x200W dynamic power) to drive the most dema...
What is your experience with amp power?
The power of audio amplifiers The best and most complete article ever written about the power of audio amps With focus on hifi.
New Class D amplifiers
One of the best amps on the market, although it's a true FDA (full digital driven PWM), so not "exactly" a "class D" (which is analog driven PWM) : http://audiobidules.blogspot.com/2022/08/review-amplificateur-numerique-technics.html
Tube or solid state
I’m sorry. I disagree with you. You are completely wrong in much of what you write, and you write in antagonistic, derogatory fashion, disguised as “enlightenment”. Some of your facts are actual facts, but some of your “facts” are only your perso...
Tube or solid state
it is contradictory to say that tube amplification is “LOWFI”, while admitting that tube amplifiers can “sound good”   LOWFI ""can"" sound good as long as the listener is expecting LOWFI : there’s no contradiction. In some cases LOWFI amplifi...

@spaceguitarist you regurgitating ASR says all I need to hear from you. LOOOL 😂  you did not even manage to read up to the end of my post, and you don't provide any argument that could give any credibility to your opinion : so maybe you just want...
Tube or solid state
@spaceguitarist FWIW there are tube amps that can reproduce those squarewaves and do it properly, on account of having full power response to less than 2 Hz on the bottom end (so no measurable square wave tilt at 20Hz) and response well past 100K...
Really Inexpensive Systems That Sounded Great?
Speakers : Q Acoustics Concept 20 (launched at 500$, now 250$) Easily outperform the 707S2 B&W. Amp : Yamaha A670 class D ($300). Incredible soundstage and very powerful 2x30W amp, lots of dynamic.
Tube or solid state
invalid 822 posts 02-05-2023 at 03:07pm If it sounds closer to the real thing than transistor amps then it doesn’t matter what wave you measure. First of all High Fidelity has never been supposed to reproduce reality but to reproduce the rec...
Tube or solid state
The musicality of the "tube" sound is a real phenomenon. It has long been known that listeners appreciate the addition of a certain amount of second harmonic distortion, and tube amplifiers produce just that, due to enormous difficulties in mainta...
Tube or solid state
Still, obvious facts are there :) so it's not a matter of what I posted, or what I'm thinking : just obvious facts.
Tube or solid state
You may find this article instructive : The return of tube amps! Of course, as stated above : I'm an ignorant (I'm just an Hifi audio enthusiast since 40 years, professional Jazz musician and teacher since 30 years, endorsed demonstrator for seve...
Tube or solid state
Vintage sound, AK LOW FI is mostly lots of harmonic distorsion, high noise ratio, and spectral non linearity.  I'm not saying that it's Bad, or that I don't like it : I just that it's not HI Fi anymore since 50 years to be fair.
