Can tube amps play loudly?
go to this site www.smr-home-theatre.org and find the article "Power, How much do I really need?"It has a chart that will probably answer your question pretty well. It shows for a given loudspeaker efficiency how many watts are needed to hit vario...
$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path
I feel the same way about the Shelter 901 cart whenever I have heard it either at my house or at my dealer's. The highs are a bit ragged. Listening to stuff like the Dixie Chick's Natalie Maine's voice is quite fatiguing. So yeah, I would definate...
$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path
If you like the Hadcock tonearm, I still wouldn't mark it off your list. The Hadcock with the Music Maker cartridge is a very, very good pairing. Heck, TWL gave the cart a good review and it wasn't even properly matched to the tonearm.I am firmly ...
$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path
Artar,Just as TWL pointed out in his followup on his Music Maker review the cartridge is a bit picky about what tonearms it mates well with. I feel that the Hadcock tonearm is very similar in that regard. I initially purchased a Benz ACE H2 cart t...
$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path
You might want to look into the Music Maker Mk3. It is a great cartridge. You can find reviews of it on TNT-Audio, 6Moons, Stereo Times, and all the Bristish mags have reviewed it over the past year as well - most of the reviews are of the Mk2 ver...
Going to take the plunge on JM Lab Micro Utopia Be
"I don't want this to sound like a sales pitch"Warren, I think if one looked up sales pitch in the dictionary they would see a transcript of your above three posts. LOL ;-)Sbfx, my local dealer is usually powering the Micro BE's with an Audiomat 3...
Home Theater or Two Chanel sound Quality ?
I agree with Distortion above, I would have done it the same way if I had known what I was doing when I had purchased all my HT stuff several years ago.If multi-channel music is at all important another decent option would be to get a multi-channa...
Best combo - integrated amp/ speakers/$8,000
Audiomat amps and JM Reynaud speakers are a very good combination.47 Labs would also be a nice match with Reynaud speakers or Cain and Cain, Konus, Carolina Audio single driver speakers.Of the amps you list my favorite would be the VAC, but I don'...
KT90 experience?
I have some nearly new Ei KT-90 type 3 tubes and all four of them make some noise as if a little part is loose or something inside. You move them and a tinkling sound can be heard inside each tube. Is this normal?

Trelja's new tube amplifiers - Granite 860.1
Trelja great review!I have no experience with the amps, but I have owned the 770 preamp for a little more than a year now. The 770 is absolutely fantastic as well, and quite frankly it has me perplexed as to why Granite Audio is not better known.A...
Help build my new system
No, when the dealer brought in the Shigaraki stuff for the openhouse, he brought in these tiny little 47 labs single driver mini-monitors, I was not impressed at all with these things and very disappointed that they had not sent the Konus Essence ...
Help build my new system
Three great options. My preferences would lead me to the 47 Labs gear, plus I think their styling would just work better in a small space, IMO.Could you save some money by not buying the input chooser? Plus if you are worried about the 12 step volu...
Heavy Kit / Power Supply upgrade for Nottingham?
Yeah I knew you had changed your initial thoughts on the Mat 1 vs Mystic Mat, but based upon your preious positive report, my local dealer's enthusiastic listening reports, many other succesful reports on the web, plus the fact that I believe the ...
Heavy Kit / Power Supply upgrade for Nottingham?
Thanks for your thoughts 4yanx on the power supplies.I actually recently ordered the Mystic Mat with Michell record clamp so will be able to report in the near future on my experience with it, as well.I am currently using an original Spacedeck wit...
