I've done it both ways.......I'll keep my center speaker. I guess if your center speaker is junk, you would benefit by getting it out of the system? (not saying "your" center speaker is junk).Dave

Most modern tube amps sound a lot like "good" solid state amps....except for the midrange freq's, where tubes sound better IMO.I'd say you are on the right track.Dave

The Electro Harmonix 6922's are good for around $15 each, or......if you want to spend big, Amperex 7308's are about as good as it gets.I own both.Dave

Well, my system is fullrange (I have a pair of subwoofers)...so everything sounds pretty darn good to my ear.I flop all over the place in music selection, so I guess what ever I'm into "that day" (or couple of days) sounds the best.I do like violi...
