Warped records in SF bay area
Needle To The Groove record shop in Fremont has a record flattening machine. I don't remember how much they charge per record, but it's worth a call if you only have a few warped records.
New Lyra Delos wheres the bass?
It took about 50 hours before my Delos started being true to itself. It got incrementally better after 50 hours.
Upgrading a Scout II, Best bang for the buck??
I agree with Cerrot that the periphery ring is a worthwhile upgrade.
Does anyone like country
I used to say with a snobbish attitude, I listen to all kinds of music, except country music. I don't say that anymore. Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, old Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and George Jones are as good...
Speakers for bad rock recordings
Classic vintage speakers from the 70s (JBL, Advent, KLH to name a few) tend to tame bad recordings without sucking the life out of them. I actually prefer to listen to poor-to-mediocre sounding classic rock and soul records on my modest vintage sy...
Insert for 45 RPM singles
The TD 160 should have a metal "doughnut" around the spindle, which you pull out and turn upside to use as the 45 adapter. If your table is missing this piece, eBay is your best bet for a replacement.
Want something more forgiving than Vandy 3a sigs
I've auditioned Sonus Faber and Audio Physic speakers side by side. I think AP has a more revealing sound and SF a more lush sound, slightly colored on the warm side imho. I ended up getting AP Virgo IIs, because it just sounded right to my ears. ...
Bill Evans Vinyl on Riverside
Having compared different Bill Evans pressings on Riverside/Orpheum (I believe 2nd pressings), Milestone, OJC and Complete Riverside LPs, I’ve concluded that they sound significantly different. The Riverside/Orpheum pressings from the 60s sound ve...
Waltz for Debby-Bill Evans Trio
IMO nothing beats Kenny Burrell's "Midnight Blue" for "smooth late night jazz offerings."
Good match preamp for Pass labs 250.5
I once emailed Nelson Pass a question about matching tube preamps with the X-series amps. He reported that customers had good results with a wide range of preamps. The Audible Illusion preamps were the only ones that seemed to be a problematic mat...

Gently squeeze the female connectors of the tonearm cables with needle-nose pliers to create a tighter fit with the cartridge pins. You can also follow Dan ed's method.Buy longer mounting screws from a dealer to mount the cart to the arm. You'll al...
Going over to the Dark Side?
Unless you plan on using your hard drive as your main source, it makes sense to copy all your music in AAC format for all the reasons you mentioned.
Hallelujah by Lenard Cohen
Oops! It's not on "Paris 1919". Got it confused with "Andalucia".
Hallelujah by Lenard Cohen
The John Cale version of "Hallelujah" is on his album "Paris 1919"
Prologue 2 Integrated Work Well With Axiom M80Tis?
The Primaluna Prologue 2 should work fine with the Axioms. I'm using the P2 to drive speakers with similar specs (90dB sensitivity, 4 ohm impedance with fairly flat impedance curve). I was also ambivalent about buying a Chinese made amp, but more ...
