New Look for Audiogon hard to work with
I agree with the negative comments so far, this latest update is the worst "improvement" I have ever seen on the site. The circular previews are horrendous  graphic design and make it harder, not easier to scan listings of interest. The old text l...
JL Fathom repair
I can only encourage you to do it the right way and send it back to JL. Their service program is second to none. For a reasonable flat fee they go through it and replace anything and everything that is possibly suspect or is in need of replacement...
My 6922 Tubes Are Too Bright!
@ 25105 regarding Voskhod 6n23p tubes. As to their sound in the BHK250 - warm in the sense that the mid range seems to have slightly greater emphasis, lots of "air" around instruments, treble is detailed but definitely not etched, bass isn't fat o...
My 6922 Tubes Are Too Bright!
I've been experimenting with 6922 family tubes to tame some of the issues you are having. In my PS Audio BHK Stereo 250 amp, I've found Voskhod "Rocket" 6n23p tubes to be just the ticket. The Reflektor factory's tubes haven't appealed to me so muc...
Good music/audio stores in Memphis, Nashville, Florida panhandle, Central FL
In central Florida's Tampa Bay/St. Pete area I'd suggest you visit the Sound Exchange on Nebraska Ave in Tampa. Mojos Books and Music in Tampa is great for vinyl but not so much for cd's. St. Petersburg has several good ones, just Google "used mus...
James Brown
Agree with shadorne's recommendations with the caveat that I'd remember the term "very good audio quality" is relative when it comes to James Brown recordings. There's only so much you can do with some of them.
Jl audio fathom f212v2 noise and hum
Are these brand new or used?
JL Audio F110 Fathom pops...
Another A+ for JL's out of warranty service. I had them go through my F112 and I ended up with an almost new subwoofer with just about everything replaced except the cabinet and driver for $300.
20 Year Old Amplifiers compared to 2017
Mike has a lot of Takachi cases left over because of folks upgrading their original orders in his first three or four lots. Most people decided to upgrade from the Takachi case and wait for him to finish production of his own beefier upgraded case...
20 Year Old Amplifiers compared to 2017
Chrshanl37, I'm only about 50 hrs. into the break-in process and most say you need 200 hrs. on the amp to hear the final outcome. It has changed quite a bit since first out of the box. I posted my initial impressions here @ Audiocircle's discussio...
20 Year Old Amplifiers compared to 2017
These endless arguments about whether all properly designed amplifiers sound the same are a bit amusing. As a previous post noted, "certain unique speakers present loading that will cause good amplifiers to sound slightly different." Arguments ari...
Expectations for warranty repair timing
I went through the exact three month same wait for a Marantz SA11S1 "repair" only to have Marantz eventually throw in the towel and admit they couldn't provide repair parts for it because the laser assembly was no longer available and the engineer...
Sorbathane under granite slabs for speaker bases?
If you go over to "Audiocircle" that website has a group discussion devoted to Herbie's products best uses/applications. As far as similarities between Herbie's products and sorbothane, I suppose they are similar in that they are both viscoelastic...
Sorbathane under granite slabs for speaker bases?
If I read your proposed installation correctly, the unusual variable I doubt any of us has worked with is the "hollow five inch high tile shelf" that your speakers will be placed on. Your speakers are fairly heavy (75 lbs. or so) and it has been m...
Expectations for warranty repair timing
You are so right lousyreeds1, a little communication would go a long way in these matters. It never ceases to amaze me how poorly so many companies perform with regard to keeping customers informed about the status of orders, repairs, etc.
