Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers
@davetheoilguy I’ve only ever heard these in a showroom. Have you? Where? Tekton sells direct-to-consumer only and I've never seen the brand at hifi shows.
TAS. The Absolute Sound?
@jhnnrrs  TAS and Stereophile, as well as many of the online only review sites have reduced themselves to audiophile porn.  Highlighting that which is only attainable by a wealthy few, leaving those of us for whom it is unattainable drooling I...
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers
@knock1  I do not think Tekton speakers are good choice for people with arachnophobia I'm confused. Arachnophobia is the fear of spiders. How do the Tektons remind you of spiders?  Do you mean trypophobia?
Tekton speaker comparison thread
@millercarbon @lwin  Same here. The Moabs have performed terrifically in my room, where they followed the Martin Logan Odysseys I'd had and loved for many years. The Moabs were less than half the price BTW. Roughly as fast as the old electrostats...
Borresen Loudspeakers
I have a pair of M1s, but I’ve heard three or four other Børresen models as well. They really are outstanding, even the ones that cost a tenth of the retail price of mine.
Indispensable Tool!
@czarivey Yes, you could burn the files to a CD. Or just copy them to your music library and then play them through whatever software you favor — Roon, Audirvana, etc. On the recommendation of a friend, I bought and downloaded the Tellurium file...
Full range stand mounted speakers
This is the only stand mount that I know of that'll get you near full range performance .  https://legacyaudio.com/products/view/calibre How so? The company specs these down to 38Hz. That means pretty much the entire bottom octave is missing.
Magico's M9
I know everyone is sick of hearing about this But you made a post about it anyway. Was that useful, you think? FWIW, I heard the Magico M6 ($172,000/pair) at AXPONA last year. They sounded absolutely stellar — best sound of the show, along wit...
What's the point of reviewing?
unless we have identical equipment and acoustic spaces, it’s mute. Really? Mute? Or moot?
OMG - Room Acoustics are Critical - WAF be dam-ed!.
@dadork Who are all of these men that are so afraid of their women? Afraid to move a lamp or throw pillow? It is our house too. This milquetoast mentality puzzles me as well. There was an interesting discussion about it on Reddit a few months...
2023 Florida Audio Expo Show Report
@blisshifi Stereophile concurs with your top choices.
Learned something new today and it isn't good.
I learned about the practise of applying "pre-emphasis" to CDs that was around during the late '70's and early '80's Late 70s eh? The first CD player came out in 1982.
Under my tower speakers -- Isoacoustics Gaia, other options?
@tonywinga A couple of years ago I watched a Peter Townsend video demonstrating his speaker platforms That would be surprising. Pete Townshend is the guitarist for the Who. The gentleman who made the Podiums was Max. No relation. https://hifi...
Stereophile Scamming Subscribers?
This happens with all magazines I've ever subscribed to. Just went through the same thing with The New Yorker. Offers vary from $60 to hundreds of dollars a year. They do send you a nice tote bag though.
Only two tracks to test your system, forever!
This thread for me confirms easily the worst thing about audiophiles: their taste in music. Of course the answers are going to be middle-of-the-road audiophile-approved pap like Patricia Barber and Diana Krall. And yes, let's not forget Flight of ...
