Coincident Frankenstein mk.2 amps
Snopro,I use the EML 5u4g. Gorgeous tube at night (meshplate as you may already know) and yes, it is huge.Sound: In my 300b SET, I think they are among the best I've heard. I also like and use vintage RCA's. Can't speculate how they would sound in...
question about wire break in
Q: What's breaking in?A: For the most part, the human brain.Don't underestimate what it is capable of learning WHILE the metals and dialectics are changing.Don't forget how gullible it can be either. Google "hypnotism" and "effect of suggestion" t...
Tubes vs Solid State
Bo1972,"I think a combi with Pass labs power amp with a tube pre amp is a good option for you as well!!:Agree with you on that. Been running a CJ tube pre (ART) into a Pass ss amp (XA100.5) into my Magnepan 3.6's for about 4 years now. No desire t...
Body for Maggies: Hegel Pass Sanders or Ncore?
Stereo5, I'm with you on the tube preamp. I forgot to include that in my post. I tried 2 highly regarded ss preamps with my Pass and while they sounded very nice, the tube pre gave me something more that was to my satisfaction.
Tubes vs Solid State
TG, I think the The Map was just having some fun....RIGHT MAPMAN??!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)I remember an IEEE (I think) paper from many years ago that said, "The transistor is superior to the tube in every regard except one, the amplification of audio". ...
Body for Maggies: Hegel Pass Sanders or Ncore?
From your list of wants:Don't bi-amp if you go for the 1.6's. I own 3.6's and have owned 1.6's in the past (liked them a lot). Haven't heard the new 1.7. Dramatic difference to some is a little different to others. You have to decide. For amps (ag...
Differences between cable sound.
I feel like silver needs a defender here and of course, it's just IMO:Use the right insulation (teflon or ?) and geometry and silver is the best. Silver is a better conductor than copper, copper is better that gold. (fact not opinion). I'd describ...
Omar Bose...
MrD,Agree with you totally. Forgot to add in my post that I admire your system, especially the Marantz 15. I have a 16b that I have a lot of "fun" with.

Paulsax,I heard a difference that I thought was quite noticeable between the first Wave Radio/CD (that had the flip up lid for the CD) and the second generation one that you inserted the CD in from the front. To my ears, it sounds like it has a be...
Omar Bose...
Mrdecibel,Your post reminded me....In the early 70's a couple of friends and I drove from San Diego to a movie theater in LA to see the premiere of "The Concert for Bangladesh". Ravi Shankar was there in person. The theater had a whole bunch of Bo...
Omar Bose...
Rrog,I've often wondered about the Bose "haters". Why so polarized? It was enough of a phenomena that my curiosity got the better of me so I worked up a few profiles of the haters. You have the ones that have to get a deal on everything. They hate ...
Omar Bose...
Rrog,"Richard Cranium"...I think that's a good aka for MF.fwiw, I have a Bose Wave Radio and think it sounds great. Thank you Amar. RIP.
EL 34 question
>>>I like having an alternative to turn to, for variation, and for back-up<<<We share similar tastes. 300b SET's have been at the top of my list of favorite amps for many years now...and... I use a Marantz 8b (pp el34) in a separ...
