MFSL moody blues: are they all so good?
They're in my hall of fame...don't care what the R&R HOF thinks!
MFSL moody blues: are they all so good?
I was blown away by the MOFI of "Days" when I first heard it. Compared to the U.S. Deram pressing, which is horrible, the MOFI is hugely better. The British Deram is another story. BTW, the title is "Days of Future PASSED" not "past".
Whats on your turntable tonight?

Help with used records.
Lighter fluid does an excellent job of removing stickers without damaging the jacket.

Thou shalt not refer to records as "vinyls".(thank you )
John Barry & James Bond Music
"Out of Africa" is a good Barry score also.
True Analog LPs versus Digital Recordings
Telarc also made some direct-to-disc recordings in the late 70's - now we're talkin' true analog.
Garrard 301/401 audition request
I think that's a "sound" approach: try before you buy. If you're not impressed, nothing lost (good excuse for a road trip and meeting new people). Of course if you do like what you hear, as many do(including me), then you're in trouble - 301s/401s...
True Analog LPs versus Digital Recordings
I have a classical Lp which, according to the jacket, was digitally recorded in 1978. So there ya go - some digital goes back to the 70's.
Is it okay to talk around your speakers?
I don't care what my speakers think about me. They're not being paid to think. If they don't do their job, they'll be fired. End of story.
Great MONO recordings
Some of Toscanini's later recordings actually sound fairly decent - Pines and Fountains of Rome and Pictures at an Exhibition, for example. Great performances too.Dave
What's the oldest piece of gear in your system?
A hammertone Garrard 301 which I believe was manufactured in 1954. It could be 1955....either way it's pretty old.Dave (also pretty old)

Rocks, clocks, and other crocks.
Pro-ject Debut 3 problem with unbalanced sound
You could switch the left and right cart connections, just to make sure it's the cart, before you take it back.
