step inside Klipsch fans and fanatics
I have used a variety of Klipsch speakers from the KG5.5, RF series, and Khorns. My current analog speakers are a pair of Audio Physics Caldera II. I have never used any of the elite horn loaded speakers so my horn experience is strictly Klipsch. ...
Rushton's DIY approach to ultrasonic record cleaning published by Positive Feedback
Rushton: great article. I posted on the site, but wanted to encourage all who have looked at DIY record cleaning to look at what you put together. I really liked the motor set up for the records to be turned in the bath. Your experience is very si...
Cart Recommendations
I am a fan of the zyx line of cartridges. I have not used on any table but my three maplenolls, but from the Airy series to the UNIverse II, these cartridges are very neutral and are great trackers. Once you hit their sweet spot, they are a pleasu...
choosing a tonearm for my new michell gyro
Interesting he did not recommend the michell techno arm which is a modded Rega. I used the stock RB250 for years and i felt it matched well with the Gyro. My daughter is currently enjoying the table with the same arm i installed on in many years a...
Do they make a quiet great sounding phono pre amp??
RCM sensor II. its a solid state Phono but dead quiet. Interestingly RCM is known for tube amps, hence my intrigue as i was investigating a new Phono stage. ALso had experience with a ZYX artisan which i really liked. Battery operation and very qu...
Power for Klipschorns
i used the Khorns with KG5.5 centers and rear with a Klipsch sub for years. I used the Marantz SR9600 using this set up. The Klipsch speakers don't require a lot of power so a modern Marantz avr might fill your needs
Curious .. What is the compared price of your tt vs spkrs
I had always been a fan of the Source being the highest quality (not necessarily the most expensive), Speakers next, and amplification, etc. I always fussed over the turntable, arm and cartridge. However, lessons learned from 45 years in this hobb...
solid state amp power
not cheap, but Pass Labs or First watt amps. SHould be able to find one that meets your demand. I am using a XA30.8. I however use a preamp.
Should I buy a Class A Amp.
i purchased a pass labs xa 30.8 when they came out and have been extraordinarily pleased with the amp. What made it really easy was the way reno hifi allowed a risk free demo. This was my first foray into separates as i had been a receiver fan, pr...
What centre channel are you using?
i am a fan of full range speakers for centers. I use Klipsch KG5.5 for my center speakers behind an AT screen.
Receiver for Klipschorn Home Theater
i used a Marantz SR9600 for years with my Klipschorns. I used a set of Klipsch KG5.5 for center and rears. it was a fantastic system. I added a set of wall mounted Klipsch when i went to a 7.1 system. The marantz really worked well with the Klipsc...
Linear Tracking Turntables - Best??
What Atmasphere is talking about is discussed at length on several other strings. Having the lowest possible mass really helps this phenomena. i modified my apollo arm (was originally modified by Lloyd Walker to a light weight ceramic) with a carb...
Help with picking the right phono pre for the rest of my system please!
Even though not on your list, i would add the RCM sensor II to the list. Fully adjustable gain and load to fit a variety of cartridges. I had been using a zyx artisan and needed a little more gain.
Your "eureka" analog moment
like others, i have had a few eureka moments--My first dual table (721)--with a shure v15 type 3--My first audiophile table--Michell gyro--VDH frog--Sweet sound and a beginning of understanding a soundstage--Maplenoll tables--Booming bass and such...
Turntable for life
Maplenoll apollo is my lifer, its a massive table that had been modded personally by Lloyd before he started his current company. I have modded the tonearm and i believe it will match up with any table out there. Its not the prettiest or a sleekes...
