When is Wish You Were Here going to be SACD
Likely not anytime soon. MFSL passed on doing a cd remaster because the master tapes were in such poor shape. From what I know, there is no good copy of that album on any medium except perhaps the original vinyl.
What steps forward were actually steps backward?
Spendor SP100's. I read so many positive reviews that I had to own a pair. Somehow the reviews failed to indicate that, in a small room, they would not put out bass without being driven loud enough to loosen teeth.

Booming bass from WP6
Have you tried stuffing something (like a sock) in the port to cut down on the speaker's bass contribution?

If your condo has a common wall with a neighboring unit, you may actually be hearing the booming sound of a broom handle being pounded against the other side of the wall.It took me a while to identify the characteristic leading-edge "slam".
what this site needs ...
Feedback linked to actual transactions, like eBay. This would prevent several of the dealers here from artifically inflating their feedback.
recommendation of a sound level meter
Wow. That was helpful.
recommendation of a sound level meter
The Radio Shack analog meter has a jack on the side for an external mike. When I owned a TACT RCS I used to put the TACT's mike on a tripod at ear level and plug the mike into the RS meter. It worked pretty well. For the "once in a while" casual h...
recommendation of a sound level meter
You can modify a RS analog meter to make it more accurate and extend the lf and hf responses. I've done it and it works great - and you probably won't need a more expensive spl meter.See:http://www.gti.net/wallin/rsmeter.htm
Echobusters "to gap from wall' or not
The panels are very light. As I recall, I did not use any sort of high-tech hanging scheme. I nailed toothed picture hanging strips to the top middle in the back and used a long nail. For the ceiling I did not use standoffs and just screwed the pa...
Talon Khorus X or Meadowlark Blue Heron 1?
I've owned both and vote for the Blue Heron I. The speaker had less odd response issues, was easier to move around, and retained it's resale value much better. You just don't see Blue Herons show up on Augiogon because owners keep them. I lost my ...
Echobusters "to gap from wall' or not
I've done it. It makes a noticable difference in the effectiveness of the panels. I cut 1/2" x 1" standoffs and screwed them into all four corners of the panel in back. Then I bought a sheet of those small rubber peel-off circles for furniture and...
Preamp input needed
I owned the TACT RCS and liked it at first, but eventually got dissatisfied.*Just my opinion*, but the Tact should be purchased primarily for the room correction function and secondarily for the preamp function, not the other way around. For that ...
Maxwell Smart and Miles Davis?
Well... okay. I was kidding.
Maxwell Smart and Miles Davis?
Actually, I was not kidding at all. It *does* sound like Get Smart, except for all of the slamming doors.I'll bet that somewhere in the gargantuan Miles Davis legacy I'll find the theme song to The Man From UNCLE.
