KT120 replacement options in a Cronus Magnum II
Tried to make the switch from 120’s to 88’s in my Atlas Magnum III to save some money, but it was so much better with the 120’s in my system that I just had to spend whatever it cost. Fortunately, I found a matched quad of Tung Sols for $400 and w...
Definitive Technology Demand D17???
Thank you. You’re right. I passed.
I need impedance help. Rogue RH-5 to Solid State Amp.
Thanks for the advice! Great to hear. Coming from the RP-1 to the RH-5, I believe there is a brighter, faster, more dynamic nature to the 5. The 1 is a great piece as well and has that warm, bloom that is so nice to be around. The 5 feels a bit mo...
I need impedance help. Rogue RH-5 to Solid State Amp.
I am thoroughly impressed with the sound of these products and really believe in what Rogue is doing, but it’s far from user friendly. It’s like how all of their unbalanced preamplifiers reverse polarity, but they don’t publish this anywhere. Not...
I need impedance help. Rogue RH-5 to Solid State Amp.
Mark at Rogue seemed surprised by the numbers I quoted him from the Stereophile review. He suggested bypassing a capacitor that he put in place to keep from sending DC power to the amp. Haha. So I’m not sure if he’s even confident in the design. I...
I need impedance help. Rogue RH-5 to Solid State Amp.
For a non-tube counterpart, I’ve been looking for something powerful that can handle 4 ohm speakers well. The Parasound A23+ is a contender. It and its big brother, the A21+, measure 33k (unbalanced) and 66k (balanced). Open to suggestions on bal...

Thank you. Are those 3 measurements for the 3 gain settings? So I would be able to use a 22k amp on the first two gain settings?
Rogue Audio. Reliability issues? Anyone?
stereo5, Yes, the fuse popped when the tube went.
Rogue Audio. Reliability issues? Anyone?
I’m not bent out of shape. Just trying to understand. It’s all good. The amp is with Rogue now and I have new tubes on the way. So we’ll see how this pans out.    I have my solid state amps to hold me over in the meantime, so I’ll certainly live....
Rogue Audio. Reliability issues? Anyone?
Thanks everybody! This has been a good read. To the point of affordability of tubes; It’s not about money exclusively. It’s the time they take. I mean, when I get this amp back and throw some tubes in it, is it just going to fail again and blow s...
Rogue Audio. Reliability issues? Anyone?
russ69, So much attention went into matched tubes. How am I supposed to just replace one tube and throw out all that paid-for attention to detail? I guess maybe the answer is to pony up more money for ANOTHER matched quad. Feels like a very, very...

The bias is drifting upward.
Bought the Chord Qutest. Love it. Hate the power supply.
I over reacted. Kudos to the person who gave a recommendation. I guess my hyperbole was too strong in my original post.

I used to share similar opinions to ASR, but then I bought a nice stereo.

I appreciate Rob Watts perspective. But Alan Shaw says amps don’t matter and I run Harbeth with a carefully selected amplifier. I don’t like the $.69 power cord. Maybe because I’m a complete moron. I’ll find help on another forum. Thanks.
