Which interconnect cable to upgrade first
I upgraded my interconnects starting the source to preamp and then, the preamp to amp.  My rationale was minimize signal loss as close to the source as possible. I upgraded to Kimber Kable  - Kimber sells trade-in and demos on eBay and are easy t...
Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
I’m curious how many folks have owned McIntosh amps and ‘upgraded’ to another brand.     When I think of my hobbies (or more accurate vices) -motorcycles, cars, wine, beer and whiskey. My experiences impacted future buying decisions.    I though...
Listening to music I don’t particularly like
A good system is like a good telescope. If you want you can tell yourself all that big scope does is give you a crystal clear view of the pimples on your neighbor's butt. Or you can marvel at the rings of Saturn, lose yourself in the Milky Way. ...
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
@realworldaudio I appreciate your passion. I am not buying someone's vision - I'm buying an outcome based on constraints like budget, space and time.
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
@mozartfan I really like my speakers - I'm not touching anything because if it didn't work I'd be really irate with myself.  And if it did work I'd second guess if I could do better. Some of us are too critical of our DIY to be satisfied!
Anyone Get a Degritter for Xmas?
I have an Audio Desk and I admit it's not cheap. And it's added life to my LP collection which includes albums I bought in the 80s. (About 300).  I have cleaned all my records and clean every record I buy before playing.  It does make a differen...
Tube Vs. SS Preamps
My experience is the sound is different. My initial systems were entry level SS and I acquired McIntosh C2600 tube preamplifier - it was a dramatic improvement.  Using an analogy the music was clearer - I could easily hear specific instruments in...
You Cant Buy It but you Can Build It
Good for you!  Glad you are enjoying the process! In regards to DIY - I don't have the skill or patience and I'm glad foks that can enjoy the music and have the satisfaction of it being the fruit of their labor.
Looking for thoughts on Sonus Faber speakers
I don't know where you live - the dealer I have worked with in Dallas sells a lot of Sonetto Vs.  He's very willing to trade them in because of their popularity - consider asking the dealer if they have any trade-ins available or coming up to get ...
Listening to music I don’t particularly like
One advantage of having a nice system is listening to it and I think trying new music is an ancillary effect. I often have Linn Jazz on my system - I have my system on a large portion of the time including when I'm away so my dog doesn't feel alo...
I’m looking for an Digital XLR cable
I have kimber kables - KCTG XLRs and BiFocals If you are happy with audioquest why change?
Preamp recommendations for my system please
Nice system - I'd add VTL and perhaps explore a used boulder preamp
Mcintosh MA9000 Phono Stage
@lewm I agree with your statements and the internal phono stage is good not great. And I'm suggesting it will quickly become the weakest point in the chain for vinyl.
Mcintosh MA9000 Phono Stage
The internal phono stage is good not great.    if you are looking to improve your system- I would start with phono stage then consider  a cartridge  upgrade then upgrading your table.     Consider contacting the folks at VPI for their thoughts a...
Sabrina X Amp Suggestions
I've heard D'Agostino, Boulder and Moon integrateds used with Wilson and all of them sounded very good.
