amp blowing fuse
Very strange. Just picked up some fuses at Lowe’s and swapped the tubes from the amp that powered up and now it powered up. So I’m thinking it was the tubes. So just for the heck of it I put what I thought were the offending tubes in the other amp...
amp blowing fuse
There’s only one fuse externally on the amp. Pretty sure it’s for the tubes. There’s a jewel power indicator lamp that glows for about one second before the fuse blows.  I’m not hearing any noise through the speakers when this happens. You’re sayi...
Really...My favorite power tube is reissue that's not widely popular
Just just ordered a quad of these today from Viva $92.00 with shipping   Hoping to hear those intrinsic organic overtones and supple extended high frequencies associated with these tubes. All kidding around aside the  VIva website lists these as K...
Speaker wiring question
I wanted to use the same ones I used the previous time which happened to come with the integrated I just purchased ( Denon pma 2000 IVR - pretty impressive unit incidentally) but forgot where I put them and used my Morrow IC instead   They'll turn...
Speaker wiring question
Both the speakers and integrated were recently purchased (used) and I listened for a couple of hours again today this time connected to the low posts and things did  sound better but I also used different Interconnects and am wondering if that was...
Speaker wiring question
Still just wondering if you're not biwiring does it make a difference if you're using the low or high posts?
Speaker wiring question
Thanks for the replies.  Freediver:  they are actually cable jumpers and not brackets.  Why do you think I would get much better performance if I connected to the bottom (low end) just curious.  All the illustrations for non biwiring do show conne...
Best way to ship pair of Platinum Audio Speakers?
If you can find  big enough double corrugated boxes to ship the Quatros you can try regular ground shipping.  Just try to protect the edges and bottoms with polystyrene and bubble wrap.  what you could do is buy some water noodles (very cheap) and...
Why the facination with integrated amps?
That's all well and good but at what cost?   In the real world with mortgage payments, college tuition, and the ever increasing cost of living many people have to find a middle ground of sorts and compromise somewhere
Why the facination with integrated amps?
About a year and half ago the wife could no longer take all the cabling and  power cords associated with my tube monos and preamp, not to mention the sub in our family room and for lack of a better term  was evicted out of there  I really didn't h...
The Great Speaker Quest
Maybe it's me but the OP hasn't responded to this thread in almost nine years.  Perhaps his never ending quest for $1000.00 monitors has been realized!
About to purchase the Kef LS50W speaker want opinions about set up....
@jon_5912This is precisely why Phil Jones came out with the Airpulse Model one active monitor.  He feels high end audio is shooting itself in the foot and wanted to put forth a quality product at down to earth prices to make it more inclusive for ...
Annoying sounds from cars at stop light
I was once at a stop light and the car in front of me was producing such thumping one note bass the bandana he had hanging from the rear view mirror was fluttering.  Couldn't stop laughing for about 15 mins
What is it that you don't like about your Listening Room ?
Stereo5,+1 and my room is also used as a dining room as well, hence the primary reason for going active
Horn based loudspeakers why the controversy?
My Airpulse Model one speakers have a horn loaded ribbon tweeter which I find to be very extended and detailed. Not a true horn but an interesting implementation nonetheless which sounds verg good to these ears
