AirTight PC-1 supreme vs Dyn XV-1S
My error for not being clearer - apologies.  What I'm asking is, for those who have experience with the Kronos Sparta + Kronoscope RS arm, have you had an opportunity to compare/contrast the XV-1s with AirTight PC-1 Supreme?  I ask, as I understan...
All new Borresen Acoustics Z1 Loudspeakers REVIEWED !
Yes, I maintain this opinion.  Thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to live with and review the 01s in my system last year.  Michael indeed has something very special going on.  I look forward to reviewing an example of his Silver Supreme 0-series a...
VAC Signature MKiia SE vs standard MKiia
I found the SE improvements intrinsically more resolving than those offered in the standard MKIIa.  Break-in took approx. 200hrs, but improvements were obvious straight away.  IMHO, the SE upgrade investment is well worth it.  I cannot personally ...
Speaker upgrade
I am in a similar situation as you, sim. budget, room size, etc.  I run a VAC Statement 450SiQ w/ a Signature SE power plant.  Current speakers are Daedalus Athena (of 8+ yrs).  Though I am considering staying in-house w/ new Daedalus Apollos, I h...
Most impressive small footprint speaker
To get us back on the main road:  The original prompt reads, "What is the most impressive small footprint/small-modest height/full-range/cost-no-object speaker."  Sure, Totem works here, but so does Magico M2 or some Raidho designs.  Just sayin' ...
Most impressive small footprint speaker
truman - Agreed.  Once upon a time I owned both a pr of these as well as Ospreys.  Pat's designs and quality were truly exceptional.
Most impressive small footprint speaker
jackd - "Cost no object" is exactly what I meant.  Some of my favorite, albeit rare, audiophile experiences have been what some might refer to as “blind shootouts.” Not just A/B sessions with similarly priced, similarly designed audio components,...
Meadowlark Ospreys.. fighting under their weight class?
Late to the party, but just happened upon your post here.  I enjoyed a pr. of Pat's Osprey's for 8+ yrs, all the while bringing in occasional contenders just for comparison.  Could never find a design that matched the quality of build and sound th...
Comparative Thoughts - Merrill Audio Element 116 vs Veritas Class D Monoblock Amplifiiers
Robust in the sense that all of the transient definition and overall frequency spectrum of the Veritas is given more presence through the 116’s. Its true that the 116’s offered a tighter punch in the lower frequencies (I ended up dialing out my su...
VAC Signature MKiia SE vs standard MKiia
Thought I would "bump" on this.  Always helpful to hear experiential thoughts from the court of public opinion!
VAC Signature MKiia SE vs standard MKiia
Kevin and I have spoken regarding the upgrade (the improved input transformers used in the Statement Line, input signal routing and phono circuit layout enhancements, etc., and generally what one might expect in terms of sonic changes).  Was just ...
VAC Sig or Zanden 3100
knghifi:  What would you say is the primary area of SQ improvement with the SE upgrade and what was the expense involved (of course, I could consult Kevin on this as well)?
VAC Sig or Zanden 3100
Kevin has recommended the SE upgrade whole-heartedly!  I wish we could afford, but slightly out of our budget.  Perhaps if we went this route, we could consider a future upgrade.
Problems with Audio Engine Support
Finally received a response.  Thanks for the above suggestions.
Any experience with Thrax as a preamp?
Had an opportunity recently to listen to the Thrax Dionysos in our system for a couple wks.  Brought beautiful crystalline clarity in upper frequencies, very fast transient responses throughout.  Nice boost/balance to mid-bass frequencies.  Defini...
