McCormack Audio/Conrad Johnson service is great
OK Usblues, Sorry I didn't pick up on what "CS" stood for. I am from the day when writing involved words. No, I am not a hick or a hayseed as you imply, and I am sorry if I offended you. I was in hi end retail for more than ten years and have been...

With all due respect Usblues, what the hell are you talking about and what does it have to do with what i said?
Vandersteen 2wq with two way monitors
Jimburger, that is interesting stuff. I'll look at my manual and see what it says. My dealer told me a while back that the "procedure" was to find the setting on the WX-2 that sounded best and when oddering fixed X-2 filters to buy them "one step ...
Vandersteen 2wq with two way monitors
Jimburger, where are you getting this info about using the "customary 1" setting below input impedance? I just wonder how this sort of folk lore gets started. I see now how it gets spread around and then is accepted as truth if it gets repeated en...
Vandersteen 2wq with two way monitors
I have tried it with a couple of speakers with limited bass like Spica TC50's and LS3/5a's. It never sounded right. The 2WQ works best with a more full range speaker.
Review: Locus Designs Highly Recommended Polestar Power cord
Nice review Ray. I'm glad you are getting to find out just how good the stuff you already have can sound. This is the only way to get off the constant electronics upgrade path and get a system that can make music. I have been a tweaker for more th...
2wq filters: what do you recommend?
Hey Bigtee, You been on vacation or something? I had to jump in and answer these questions. I don't usually like to post much for the most part anymore. Got tired of the battles with the Nay Sayers. They can just go on listening to crap systems.
2wq filters: what do you recommend?
It's just like building an IC cable but very short. The caps get soldered together in parallel to get the value you are after and then they are soldered to the center(+) of each RCA male and female. Connect and solder a ground wire to the ground p...
2wq filters: what do you recommend?
Dolfan, for a 31K input with a high pass of 80.14Hz you would need cap value of .064uf.
2wq filters: what do you recommend?
Keith,I sent you an e-mail with two attachments. If you have the cash handy buy the used ones NOW. You can't go wrong. You can always get your money out of them and they don't show up often. If you have read much of what Bigtee or I have written on...
2wq filters: what do you recommend?
Keith,I have listened to the 5 filters with a pair of 5a's and some other very nice stuff. The system was amazing. I can't say much else about it without hearing it in my system. The filter is said to be the most transparent high pass for the Vand...
2wq filters: what do you recommend?
Harry,If you have a multi meter, many of them have a setting for measuring capacitance. You will have to add values to get as close to the "ideal" value of .03975uf, which @50K=80Hz. .039uf is 81.54Hz @ 50K.I like the DynamiCap best of what I have ...
2wq filters: what do you recommend?
Harry,Get your hands on the best sounding .04uf caps(The caps need to be matched and as close to that exact value as they can for a 79.5Hz filter. You might want to measure the value of the X-2's you have and try to duplicate that value, it should...
2wq filters: what do you recommend?
Forget the X-2. In a word they "suck". DIY X-2 clones using a very high quality cap are vastly better. I like the DynamiCap. The only problem with the DynamiCap is that the .01uf cap is really more like .013uf. That can throw off the high pass poi...
getting more bass out of meadowlarks
keep moving the speakers. Try them further out from the wall. 1/4" move in my speakers makes them sound different. It might take 1/4" or it might take two feet.
