HT pre-amp/proccessor advise.
You can find the Cary Audio Cinema 6 used around here for just over $1500. It really excels at sound quality for both music and HT. It's missing many of the bells and whistles, but has the latest sound formats, is easy to operate, and its sound qu...
Audio from a DVD player-that far behind sonically?
It's weird how good DVD concerts sound while you're watching the video. Recently I tried to listen to some of my favorite (and best recorded) DVD concerts with the video off. I was shocked how bright, flat, and just not good the sound was compared...
Confusion reigns - tube amp,ss amp, integrated..??
I also used to have Rotel HT gear and got really tired of the midfi sound - especially with music. I didn't think I could get high quality 2 channel and HT in the same system for less than huge amounts of money. However I ended up getting a deal on...
ARC and Audience: Perfect Together?
Don't invest in anything you haven't heard. Give the Cable Co a jingle and have them send you a variety of cables they know has worked with AR stuff in the past.
cables for home theater - how good??
I second the Ram Electronics cable. I'm using a 40 foot component run of theirs for my projector and it works great.
Cable auditions - Hard Work?
Hmm, surprised nobody's mentioned the Cable Company yet. They make the process very simple - they send you multiple burnt in cables based on your system and stated preferences.I insert one in the needed area (preamp to amp, CD to pre, etc) and pla...
Cary Cinema 6 Two Channel DAC/PRE Performance?
I'm using the Cinema 6, Cinema 6 and DVD-6. I was always shocked at how badly even expensive pre/pros do with music. But the Cary really does a gorgeous job. It sounds good just on the CD setting, but I prefer the sound through one of the two 6.1 ...
Opinions on Straght wire?
I can't get rid of my $60 Symphony II's - darnit. I just bought my second pair of PAD Musaeus cables ($300 retail) to finish the link between CD player and pre/pro for all Musaeus cabling. After burning them in more than the 100 hours, I still far...
Suggestions for electronics for new HT system
If you'll also be listening to music on your system I'd check out the Cary audio stuff. I own the Cinema 6 pre/pro, Cinema 5 amp, and DVD-6. Those three well matched pieces (cosmetically and sonically) do a fantastic job with music and Home Theate...
Are my cables burning in IF...
Yikes - that would break in the cable and also break me with projector bulb replacements. ;)
Opinions on Straght wire?
I've been using their lower end stuff for years in my midfi type gear (Rotel, B&W Matrix etc) with excellent results for dollars paid. Now that I've moved up to better electronics there are better options out there. But for sub $100 cables for...
Are my cables burning in IF...
Since Mark and I presumably are both using solid state systems (which most HT electronics are), I wonder if the warm up period is as much of an issue as with tube based systems. Still, I've also experienced that the sound (and also video) gets bet...
Are my cables burning in IF...
It's weird but it seems like the sound is bright when I first turn the amp on to listen (with the DVD player playing continuously). After listening with the amp for an hour or 2 the sound seems to mellow out (again). I guess it's a case of my ears...
Need recommendation for a dark sound interconnects
Maybe the problem he's trying to fix with his system is that his cables are too bright. As I mentioned in another thread, my entire system went from bright to right (and a bit dark) by putting Purist Audio Musaeus's between my amp and pre. The Mus...
Need Help With a Bright System
I thought I had a bright system too. I bought PAD Musaeus speaker cables and an interconnect for the CD player and it helped more than any other cable I tried, but the system was still brighter than I preferred. When I finally tried the Musaeus int...
