How often do you have to tuneup Linn Sondek LP12
I agree with Lugnut. Properly cared for, they don't need much fuss.
Universal Remote suggestions
I have used a number of universal remotes over the years. Including Sony, Marantz, and Pioneer. THE most user friendly universal remote I've ever come across was the Home Theater Master MX-500. (This from a guy with 3 racks full of gear and a doze...
Who has experience shipping large speakers?
Stay away from USF. I just had a bad experience with them.
P300 Users: where do you place the unit?
I have a P600 where size and heat really ARE an issue. I have it sitting on it's own little 2 shelf stand (Sanus) with a UO and a couple of juice bars underneath.
5 things I will not do agian, what about you?
Buy into some new technology, just because it's the latest thing. Pay full retail.
Which amp is best to drive Magneplanar 1.6's?
I just hooked mine up to an Audio Research VT 200. WOW! The Maggies do really crave good clean power. And lots of it.
Theil's 2.4 - who out there has heard them?
I heard them last spring when I toured the Thiel factory in Lexington, KY. I was favorably impressed and summarized my opinions in an earlier post.
best amp solution for ht and 2 channel
When faced with a similar dilemma, I went with a Krell KSA 200 for the mains and a Krell KAV 500 for center and surrounds. They blended pretty seamlessly.
How often to Audiophiles upgrade their equipment?
It depends. Some components, like my Linn turntable, I've had for several years. And have no plans to upgrade. Other components, like cd players, I upgrade more frequently.A lot depewnds on how much improvement I can make for how little $'s.
Which amp is best to drive Magneplanar 1.6's?
If what you are looking for is bass, have you considered mating the Maggies with the REL Storm III subwoofer. I have and it is a match made in heaven as far as I'm concerned. The beauty is that the REL's are one of the few that don't get in the way...
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
My mistake. It wasn't Classic Records who did the reissue. But that doesn't detract from the excitement.
Thiel owners
I had a chance to audition the 2.4 at the Thiel factory in Lexington KY earlier this year. I am a long time owner of Thiel 3.6. The only real unknown for me was the bass. (They had the 2.4's mated to the SW-1 subwoofer.) I will say that the 2.4 is...
Considering thiel 3.6 but need feedback
I've owned Thiel 3.6's for several years. I've had best results with them 2.5 to 3 feet from the wall. You might also consider dedicated Sound Anchor platforms. They really snap the image into sharper focus.
Johnny Cash - Rest in Peace
The "little guy" has lost one of his best spokesmen.
Calling Thiel owners please...
I have had very good results substituting Sound Anchor stands for the spikes. A little over the top maybe. But the improvement is worth the $$$.
