powercords
Agree with proof of concept. Personally, I have found premium cables to provide blacker backgrounds and quieter quiet parts between the notes. Overall as improvement. But I also feel that there are economies of scale. I started out my power cord j...
Pre amp and Power amp advice needed
I have a PrimaLuna Dialogue HP integrated. Runs like a top and sounds great. It drives my Magico A3 towers with no sweat.
Lumin or Aurender
Roon is a must for me. Therefore Aurender out. It’s a nonstarter. I have a Lumin U1 Mini and it truly is very powerful with great SQ. Plus you can upgrade it with an SBooster LPS. I have also added Noico to the interior to dampen EMI. A nice littl...
How Do You Live The Audiophile Life
Back to the question at hand: If the budget is limited and you would classify yourself as entry level but are looking to progress in the hobby I would recommend the following approach:1. As stated earlier get subscriptions to The Absolute Sound an...

Non-believers will disagree. But your power and power management is the foundation of your sound system which sits on top of it, so to speak. So I completely agree, get Cardas or Shunyata wall outlets. Get a PS Audio Power Regenerator. Your Shunya...
CD Transports
Just to let everyone know, per an email response to my query to Cambridge Audio, the difference between the CXC and the CXC V2 is 100% cosmetic (the finish/color). There is no difference in features, specs or functionality.
CD Transports
As far as performance for dollar, I would recommend the CXC. You can buy one inexpensively and “refurbished” that I suspect is actually new, on eBay. Plus you can modify it with additional dampening with Noico or Dynamat as per one of Steve Gutten...
Bryston Amp Experience Needed
I think you should be fine with the 3B3. You say that you generally listen at low (or at least not crazy high) volumes. So you should have enough headroom to handle transients and dynamics. Would the 4B3 be better? Yes. But is it worth financial s...
Bryston Amp Experience Needed
I am a big fan of the 4B3. It truly is a great amp. But what is the sensitivity of your KEF speakers?
Need help replacing my beloved Magnepan....
I like the idea of getting the Maggie LRS and a couple of subwoofers. Also the Magico A1s and two subs would also be good, if you have to have small main speakers. If you can do a pair or towers that would open up a whole can of worms and other re...
Magico vs the world
All of this defending and bashing Magico is hilarious. In my audiophile journey I have owned many speakers. Currently I do own a pair of Magico A3s. But there are a lot of great speakers and guess what? Not everyone likes the same thing or the sam...
Magico vs the world
@stereo5 Well yes to me it sounds great. Thanks. I treat my listening room a bit like a listening lab. But I suppose quite a few of us do.
Magico vs the world
I read over some of the other replies above. At AXPONA last year I heard the Vandersteensn in their listening room and granted it is hard (some would say impossible) to get an accurate audition of a speaker at AXPONA, I will say that they were imp...
Magico vs the world
@skyscraper Sorry for the delay. My Magico A3s are on a all digital system of streaming or CD. Here is the system:Power: 20amp dedicated line from the breaker box > Shunyata PS8 with Defender and Greenwave EMI filter > PS Audio PowerPlant P1...
Magico vs the world
Well, in my opinion, the A3 and the S3 mk2 with the proper room and proper system, are very revealing speakers, with very nice sound stages. IMO, the S3 mk2 are better than the A3. But for the money, it may not be worth the difference in money. Bu...
