| Surprised at how turntable sounds I suspect the cart is running thru a built-in phono-pre. These can range from TT pr-eamps onboard, poor phono sections in your amp. Invariably an external phono-pre will knock you out. | |
| CD/SACD player Under $4000 I'm really enjoying my Marantz SACD30n. | |
| Three favorite LP’s While it would be too laborious to sort this out, Patrick Leonard's "It All Comes Down To Mood" would be on the list. Patricia Barber has some great recording. Tony Levin Band, "Bringing It Down To The Bass" | |
| Help Me Narrow My Choices I have heard a few of the $4K priced units, but I found a Parasound JC3+ and have never looked back. | |

| Whats on your turntable tonight? Patrick Leonard’s “It all Comes Down To Mood” and… Tony Levin’s “Double Espresso”. | |
| Does anyone have a digital system that is as involving as their analogue front end? My vote goes to Lumin. I have the basic but nice D2, like at App, and while an upgrade is in the future, this little device is spectacular. I purchased back when it was fairly new, and they have upped their game with a new platform. A+ | |
| Noob! Please help me replace my old power amp, some candidates listed. "ADS L710 pair (6 ohm, 94db) ADS L1090 pair (8 ohm, 90db)" I loved these speakers, and sold many pairs in my Retail audio days. Get an amp with great current, and maybe voiced toward the brighter side (less warm). Best of luck with the updates! | |
| Rega P3 RS, Michell TecnoDec, Avid Ingenium I’ve had the Rega P3 for 5 or 6 years. Moved my Signet TK10 ML and was very impressed. changed to an Audio Technica ART 9xi and have hit a place where I feel I get the best from my vinyl. like the OP said, you can’t go wrong with the Rega - ... | |
| How much will I now pay in duties to ship a stylus from Japan? My late and helpful comment here is: *Everything* takes more time, more steps, 5 clicks where 1 used to work. | |
| Another request for Streamer Transport options Look at the Lumin options. I’ve been very leased with mine. Also, the PS Audio Airllens looks very intriguing for US$1,500 also, choose one or the other file formats - no real need to keep both, and use up your storage space. Joe much s... | |
| I got to get me some of this tiny vinyl. This looks like a campaign to sell more stylus repairs. | |
| Looking for a more up-to-date streamer PS Audio Airlens is certified for Qubuz Connect now - last email I got was priced at $1500 https://www.psaudio.com/products/airlens | |
| the gateway product that turned you into an audiophile mid 70s Altec bi-amped speakers with SAE preamp, modest turntable and I can't remember the cart. Direct to Disc recording really hooked me, and the rest is not history yet. Added a Nakamichi LX-7 cassette. Moved to Seattle in '85, cot the deck ... | |
| Best Receiver for “Mid-Fi” System? I see a lot of the mainstay receivers, and that's OK. I also see a lot of commentary on your speakers and what it may take to drive them properly... A: Get a honking receiver! Remember they all say. "xxx power, 2 channels driven. B: get a decen... |
