Any electronic modders here at Audiogon?
Auxinput - cool. You're ahead of me - I generally don't mess with SMD components - they're a real pain for hobbyists like me. But the problems I mentioned with my Kremlin were caused by the old memory battery "oozing" onto a 240Ω SMD resistor in t...

Rockyboy, I hope you weren't offended by the joke.
Any electronic modders here at Audiogon?
Here's another thing I'd like to share - IF you do any amount of, say, Recapping or anything that has to to with Desoldering a component from a circuit board - IMO a Must Have is a Hakko Electric Desoldering Vacuum tool (current model is the FR-30...
Any electronic modders here at Audiogon?
Thanks for everyone's input.Auxinput - I had a kind of similar situation with my Linn Kremlin tuner (and my Linn Klassic for that matter) - They were just too "nice" to mess with (modify) because they're rather expensive, and I don't want to mess ...
Make a trasnformer hum 101
Thanks, eric. Any idea how heat-resistant sorbothane is?
Recap my ailing Forte 4a?
If I recapped my Meridian 204 tuner, would I notice any improvement in sound?

Don't know, but if you don't get an answer, you could always tie someone to a whipping post to find out.... ;)
Make a trasnformer hum 101
Would bolting Sorbothane under the transformer of one of those Carver "Magnetic Field" amps stop the bad hum that comes from them sometimes? (I'm guessing No, because the vibration is internal to the transformer.)
Components I would have died for when I was a wee pup
Revox B760 tuner when they came out in the early 80's. I have two now.
Disaster
We had a house fire in 1984, and I recovered my NAD receiver, but it was covered in soot. The soot didn't affect the operation (in this case, anyway - soot can be conductive), but the receiver smelled badly of smoke - something also to consider wh...
3M's new Embedded Capacitance Material usefulness for "high End"?
Epoxy would be for the dielectric of a capacitor, and the thinner it is, the higher the capacitance.
AUDIO RESEARCH POWERING PROBLEM.....MUTE CIRCUIT
Can't say for sure, but it sounds like the amp didn't "like" one of those 6922's and went into some kind of protection mode.
Graphene spray and ...
The problem with graphene is it's basically a 2-dimensional substance, and that's not the most stable state for a substance to be in - it will tend to "curl up" into the more stable 3-dimensional state, unless special methods are used, like stated...
Graphene spray and ...
Graphene is basically 2-dimensional graphite. Graphite is soft and slippery because it’s in layers of 2-dimensional carbon atom "sheets" weakly bonded to other sheets of similar carbon.Graphene is therefore a single "sheet" of carbon atoms arrange...
Impedance matching between 2k ohm phono pre and 100k ohm amps via passive pre
IMO if it sounds good, then you're good to go. Any serious impedance mismatch would sound like there is something very wrong. No matter what, you won't hurt anything with that setup as you have it.
