Classe ca 301 is the low end weak.
I had a Classe CA 300 and found no problems whatsoever, I think it was and still is one of the best amps in that price range. your weak link is the speakers. I had a set of 804's and liked the mid's and hi's but found the bass weak.
Shakti Stones Do they actuall work guys.
They work great, IF you use them right. But first, they need to be harmonically balanced. You do this by putting the 'family stones' in a vise and tighten down real snug. Then you release the tension. At first, you you will notice some slight disc...
Shorting plugs....
Hmnn, I've never had a "noise" or a humn from most of my system components over the years. Last year I upgraded to a matching Pass Labs amp/pre-amp and they come with shorting plugs on the balanced connectors. I don't hear any difference either wi...
Cable tv music analogue or digital?
Ok, well, while I'm waiting on more info, here's another weak link. I have a cheap dvd. I ran the audio rca outputs from the dvd into my pre-amp, but the music sucks. It does have a digital toslink output, I wonder if I can run that into my Cary d...

Cable TV digital music
UPDATE; it turned out the coax and toslink outputs on the motorola cable box were defective. the cable co. said they had a whole shipment of them on the streets. He swaped it out with a "Pace" unit. BUT.. the digital coax output works fine sending...

Hey Bry, sorry it took so long to get back. anyway, yea, my motorola # is: DCT 6416 IIIanyway, I'm just getting around to trying this out. I found the little "trap door" you mentioned, it's labeled "optical spdif", so I am going to get a coaxe cab...
best small room 2 channel set up for under $2ooo
well, I gotta tell you, forget the bookshelfs unless you absolutely are cramped. I have heard lots of bookshelfs, like the BW line of 602's etc. they cost around $400 used, but they sound pretty bad imho. A few years ago after my divorce, I had to...
Contrast Ratio?
Thanks guys, I knew I'd get the scoop here. I personally don't see a difference between the 2. Reub- as for the pc input device, I thought about that feature and can't see myself ever using it. I don't do digital download or i-pod music. I have no...
New Plasma: 1080p or 750?
Hey Drew, I've heard this before, lot's of threads that say you can't see the difference between a 108p/720 ona 42". However, I have viewed a: 50" 1080P, 42" 1080p and a 42" 720 Panasonics side by side and I could quite clearly see better definiti...
Why no Room Tuning Questions?
I built a beautiful dedicated listening room in my last house. The final touch was home-made sound absorbers. It was an easy process; I made the frames out of 1x 4's and filled with O.C 702, wrapped them in cheap thin cloth. I had 2 2'x4' on each ...
New Plasma: 1080p or 750?
Hey, thanks Muiter. I had already decided on the Panasonic 42PZ80U. I have a shirt tail relative that I can get one from for around $1k. then the old Sony goes in the basement for the kids.
classe power amp or pass labs x250, x350??
wow, good stuff, I've owned both. I had a set of BW N804's powered with a Classe CA300. It sounded GREAT. I eventually upgraded to the 803's, again using the CA 300 and now that was the cat's meow. Last year I upgraded again to the BW N802's but s...
New Plasma: 1080p or 750?
Right, I meant 720 not 750. Hmmmn, I've heard others say the same thing that, you can't really see the differnce between 1080p and 720 on a 42". but I really am not that in to tv and don't see a need for anything bigger. but just for arguments sak...
