Another vote for all copper. I've got 1027BEs and Cardas Golden Refs mate really well.
Walking Into A Brick & Mortar High End Audio Store
I've walked out of hifi stores when sales people don't bother to come up and ask me if I need help. Perhaps they think I am not a useful commission. Their loss.

High end dealers around London, UK?
I second Walrus - had a good experience with them recently.
Should I trust movers with my equipment?
I just relocated from the US to England, and moved my gear (and everything else) with a professional mover, most via sea container. Absolutely no problems with anything - everything arrived in perfect condition (TT, speakers, etc). I don't think I...
Jazz for aficionados
Frog, Rok, Orpheus, et al - this is by far the most enjoyable thread I've followed on the Gon. I appreciate all your recommendations AND your banter! Great stuff. Just picked up 4 Roland Kirk LPs plus a Charlie Mariano (in London no less - I consi...

Nice one, Nebin - love the 10.I'm a Triple Karmeliet man myself.Dogfish Head 90, when fresh and cold, is a gem too.
Happy Record Store Day
Found what I wanted too! Lots of people out shopping here in NYC too. One place had a line around the block - that surprised me. Good to see!
I'm looking for a nice set of cans.
I've found that electronic noise-cancelling cans can be bothersome after a while (perhaps I'm just sensitive to them - they give me the sensation of "sucking on my ears" when they are turned out...). But I've also found that decent in-ear monitors...
How long daes it take your gear to warm up?
My tube amp/pre takes about 30-45 minutes to shine. The effect is pretty noticeable too, during that time.My tube headphone amp takes about the same amount of time, maybe a hair less, to sounds its best.
Bourbon and rock n roll
I'm a fan of Black Maple Hill, and Hudson Baby Bourbon. They are a little hard to find in bars/restaurants but not too rare in stores. Blantons too, which is easier to come by.
Ebtech's Hum X Ground Loop Exterm. Do they work?
I had a similar issue - some hum was presenting itself via my DAC, and it got louder as I increased volume. I was able to get rid of it by removing the ground pin of the DAC's power cable (just as an "advance test" as the above poster mentioned). ...
Classic 3 and Zephyr
I have a Classic (model before the 1/2/3 came out) with a Zephyr and mine is also set back pretty far. During setup I actually pulled it out and started over just to be sure, and ended up in the same place.(I use a Mint protractor for setup)
VPI SDS capacitor question
It was bugging the heck out of me so I did the swap, but I don't think lack of that cap alters performance otherwise.
VPI SDS capacitor question
This is the message I got from Mike at VPI about the cap:"Your Classic has a 600 RPM motor that  uses a .5 microfarad capacitor to start, when using the SDS you really need to change that cap to a .68 otherwise the SDS is fooled into thinking ther...
