Anyone with the new Bowers Wilking 800D3 in NY tri state area?
Kot - If you get any takers, then sign me up too and I'll kick in something 'decent' as well...:)GregPS - If the D3s sound anything like the P9s that I picked up recently (they're supposed to) then they should be really interesting
vintage spec sheet for cartridge?
Maybe this old thread will help point you in the right direction as it's the same cart?https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/glanz-moving-magnet-cartridgesGood luckGreg
Turntable / cartridge (and isolation) to match my pre-amp, speakers and room
Ezwicky - Congratulations on your new speakers - Hope that you're enjoying them.Of the 2 tables that you're considering I would choose the Music Hall over the Pro-ject simply because it ads an adjustment for vertical tracking angle which  the Pro-...
Class D is just Dandy!
I'm running one of the original IcePower-based seven channel amps from D-Sonic.  They run two Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus 800s each driven with two 1000ASP modules (biamped) and a pair of Nautilus 803's plus a center. The amp absolutely dominates...
Best Ratios for a Newly Constructed Listening Room
Actually Reuben - It just occurred to me after my last post that you might be setting a multi-channel theater system versus 2-channel stereo only for music.  If that's the case then my advice above probably won't work if you're doing a 5.1, 7.1, 9...
Best Ratios for a Newly Constructed Listening Room
14 X 20 would be nearly ideal (best to avoid square) with the speakers placed along the longer wall about 12 feet apart with the primary listening position directly across (these proportions and dimensions can be played with depending on speakers,...
coupling or decoupling of vinyl to/ from platter
Ruebent- You're right - Looks like your arm allows tracking force, anti skate and azimuth adjustments only.Greg
coupling or decoupling of vinyl to/ from platter
Rueben - I don't have any experience with leather pads, but given that your turntable has isolation feet, and MDF plinth and acrylic platter, you're already pretty much where you want to be and I would avoid using the felt mat altogether.  Just ma...
Please Critique my Setup and Recommend Upgrade(s)
529proaudio - I think that for the size of room that you have, if you can get full frequency floor standers, you'd be happier in the long run.  As a general rule, all new systems should probably start with speaker selection.Sure, I have my favorit...
Please Critique my Setup and Recommend Upgrade(s)
529proaudio - I was just looking at the specs for your speakers and amp and here are a couple of thoughts. The Elacs are not all that efficient at 85db/1w and being 4ohm are somewhat hard to drive for their size. Your amp is rated at 50WPC at 8ohm...
Speaker to mount in a bookcase - up to $2000 (somewhat long)
ezwicky - Your pictures help a lot - wish more people would post pictures of their layout. This is going to sound like very odd advice, but if I had your setup, I'd be shopping for an excellent pair of full range center channel speakers.  Why?  The...
Helps me with long term system development.
Well- Not exactly but I think it would be odd.  No reason not to invest in a great cartridge that you like, but to unlock its full potential, well...  It's a bit like lenses and camera bodies.  You probably wouldn't put a 400mm/ f/2.8 on a $400 co...
Helps me with long term system development.
The RPM is a good place to start - lots of bang for the buck I suppose.  I had one when they first came out (RPM 9 actually but similar)- stylish, easy to set up and sounds good.  As far as high output MC or MM cartridges, you'll find that they ca...
