Many thanks to those who provided the tips I included in my OP and those who have just added to it. I hope this helps other show newbie’s.    Please feel free to add more……

Thank you for those great AXPONA pointers @vthokie83 and @kennyc ! As a first time audio show attendee, I really appreciate any advice on how to make the most of the upcoming experience.

@vthokie83 thanks for the AXPONA tip. I’ve started highlighting and mapping the key booths I want focus on first. I’m not sure I mentioned it, but one key objective going to AXPONA (my first audio show) is to see if my 69+ year old tinnitus riddle...

@parkergetdean Bummer!  Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Its supposed to rain tomorrow so it may be a good day to conduct CD player surgery 😄

I was thinking the same thing @devinplombier ,@elliottbnewcombjr days, what do I have to lose trying. Especially if I go the qtip route which will require me to open the casement to get at the laser assembly. I really don’t want to do that but wha...

@mattw73 Amen brother!  You hit my nail on the head in your 1st and last paragraph.  In regards to your last paragraph, I’m going to try what @zlone and @mark200mph suggest by cleaning the laser which I’ve never done in my 8+ years owning the ...

How to find local audiophiles
You’d think living in The Rocket City (Huntsville AL), there would be a lot of reclusive engineer audiophiles like me, but I haven’t been able to find any…..I wonder why 😂😂😂??
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative”
@kennyc doing some late night reading (and likely music enjoyment) I see.  Thank you for the suggestion. As you imply, $10K is definitely a stretch for me.  In all honesty, so is my $8K stated budget, as I haven’t talked with my wife yet about it....
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative”
@sro thank you for this recommendation.  From reading many reviews over the years , the Danish audio companies consistently make some very highly regarded audio equipment. I hope to hear Aavik at the upcoming AXPONA (the first audio show I’m looki...
Retirement integrated amp for a “fiscal conservative”…..Part 1: I have a plan
@jlopes89 thank you for very thought provoking post!  If Agon’s metrics are accurate, I’m honored that you chose this topic for your 1st post during 7+ years of membership! To answer your questions, yes my $8K budget is for a plain (no DAC phono ...
