Cables by LAT International
i used their biwire cable for quite sometime, and was very disappointed that i sold them. i replaced them with discovery signatures and i preferred the lat's. very good build quality and a smooth sound across the entire range. go for it!
Best $300 Speaker Used
hi gpalmer... another speaker you might want to consider is the fried a/6. it's auctioned off on this site occasionally. if you do a search over at audioasylum, there is some very interesting reading about these speakers. i have a pair, and they a...
Fried A/6's -- An offer you can't refuse?
Just received the speakers, and I must say, I was impressed before I even hooked them up! Build quality is very good. Solid construction, good fit and finish... these are very good looking speakers! A bit understated, but that tends to appeal to m...
Which cables and ic's would you choose?
Check out the Virtual Dynamics Audition cable package offered here on Audiogon. It's a promo deal, offering for less than 1/3 of retail. I have used his power cords, and they are, in a word, incredible. Check out the website, www.virtualdynamics.c...
Integrated Amps: Classe vs. Audio Refinement?
Hi,I've owned an Audio Refinement Complete and an Audio Analogue Puccini. Both fantastic amps, but I would say both are pretty laid back in terms of sound. I haven't heard the Classe before. If you are looking for something a little more lively tha...
getting a little obsessed with my first purchase
i've heard the def tech's. they are very good speakers, but you also might want to look into b&w 601's and 602's (series 2, which unlike the s1's have the same tweeter as the much more expensive nautilus line). they go for about $250 (601's) -...
Under 1k integrated recomendations
As mentioned above, the Audio Refinement Complete and the Audio Analogue Puccini SE are two of the finest integrated's avaiable. Especially if you tend to like a smoother, warmer, more laid back sound, both of these amps provide very tube-like sou...
Component with most effect on soundstage/imaging?
Thanks for the input, everyone. As far as components go, I will be keeping my speakers (Ryan Acoustics MCL-1B monitors on Atlantis sand-filled stands). My listening room is actually pretty good. Perfectly rectangular, with dimensions approximately...
Anyone have honest opinion of Jolida amps?
Dakajoba,I've owned two Jolida amps, the 1501RC hybrid integrated and the 302A tube integrated (exactly the same as the 302B except for cosmetics). I recently posted my system on AudiogoN, and was surprised to get some grief about my using a Jolid...
Stradivari violin
Great thread! While my previous post discussed my preference for listening for the special tone of special performers, I have always been intrigued by the craftsmanship of fine stringed instruments. My dream is to one day retire, open a violin sho...
Stradivari violin
Just my two cents...Regardless of whether you are talking about Strads or Guarneri's, it is the tone of the particular performer that often has a greater "sonic signature" than the maker of the instrument. The greatest performers have a signature ...

DVD sound via audio-only sound system?
Eric,I use the new Sony DVP NS500V for CD's and DVD's in my two channel system, and it works great. FYI, I've noticed that there are increasingly more "lower end" combo players like my Sony with some great features! For example, my Sony cost $280 ...
Will speaker cable switch help?
Sorry, left out what type of AQ's! They are Audioquest Indigo 2 internal biwires.
I could not believe my ears
Tekunda, how do you like the Virtual Dynamics power cords? Are they really "giant killers?"
