Tube gear under $2k?
Of course I forgot to mention that this system will be in a fairly large living room, that has a large opening into the dining room... so I think I need at least 40W.
Dynaudio 1.3SE question
Thanks for all the responses. I ended up going with Green Mountain Audio Continuum 1.5's.Dennis
Dynaudio 1.3SE question
Dmichael, do you have the 1.8's in a large area? How do you have them placed?Dennis
Dynaudio 1.3SE question
Kthomas, I agree with you. The Dynaudio is a very versatile speaker! That's one of the things that draws me to them... plus the fact that they sound very open and detailed. The bass is also pretty tight and fast on Dyns (when fed enough power!). I...
Joseph Audio RM25si Mk1 versus Dynaudio 1.8
If anyone's interested, I decided not to go with the Joseph Audios. I did not think they were fast or tight enough in the bass (percussion). Thanks for the info, though.Dennis
Will the Plinius 8200 Mk1 fit my needs?
Thanks for the responses so far... by the way, I am considering the 8200 MkI integrated (seen it used for under $1400) - I guess I wasn't clear about that.Tbrros, is yours the integrated? Which version?Dennis
Dynaudio 1.3SE question
Lafish, if I'm going with a monitor, I'm not sure how important deep bass is... as long as it's tight and quick. Dmichael, which REL sub did you try? I've always heard that they were fast enough to keep up with most speakers... I've even heard the...
Bookshelf or floorstander?
Oh, and the bass being really tight (and hopefully with weight) is also very important to me. I don't like sloppy, diffused bass. I forgot to mention this in my previous post.Dennis
Bookshelf or floorstander?
So it sounds like, in general, monitors are better performers than floor standers, correct? In that case, it's probably better to go the sub/monitor route. I will note that one of the most important things for me is the "speed" of the speaker (at ...
Bookshelf or floorstander?
Thanks for all the input. I guess I wasn't clear enough in my question... sorry for the confusion. I acknowledge the need for a good stand with a "bookshelf" speaker. My question probably should've read, "besides the fuller range of a floorstander...
audio newbie question
I am being very straight with the dealers... and have actually found a few great places. However, I have noticed that some dealers are not straight with me! They can actually be quite condescending to a newbie (especially since I'm not spending $1...
audio newbie question
I was considering the Klipsch, but I prefer the sound of the Dynaudio... hard for me to describe what I like. I also really did like the Thiel 1.5, but the "soundstage" (don't know if that's the proper term) seemed very distant. Also, female voice...
audio newbie question
I think all of the speakers I've heard can benefit from a dynamic musical sub. Although some have such a loose bass that they cannot be helped. By the way, I don't have a dedicated listening room, so these speakers would have to integrate into my ...
