DACs: Airport Express vs waveterminal vs mini-dac
96kHz is only available on the newer Macs. I think that the newer Macs have the Crystal CS84xx which is actually the same chip used in a lot of high end DACs.

To upsample in iTunes on a Mac (running OSX 10.4.4), go to your applications folder, look in the Utilities subfolder, open up "Audio Midi Setup". Under Audio Output: format, you can upsample to 96,000 Hz.

I hope that Delicious Library does work for you, but I found it to be extremely slow and unstable. Very disappointing. I have been using a program called CD Pedia. It has all the features of Delicious Library, but it is solid as a rock and I can s...
High End User Interface for PC Audio
Personally, I think that the Apple Powerbooks are as elegant as anything put out by the high end audio crowd (and in a different league than most PCs)I have a Power Mac G5 that is loaded with Apple lossless files playing through my DAC and Monoblo...

The genre known as "ambient" works great in the background while working. Minimal beat, very spacy. Either you like this stuff or you don't. There is a definitive list and a streaming server you can listen to here:http://sleepbot.com/ambience/Expl...

I know the feeling of just wanting your data to be safe. I really don't want to have to re-rip all those CDs, let alone the impossibility of retaking ten thousand photos!I have my RAID set up as a local disk on my G5. In other words, I don't have ...

Having had the RAID for over a month I just can't imagine doing without it, so it really is not overkill - just expensive! I can't help but think that an xServe G5 might be overkill for you if all you are looking for is a NAS solution. (It is a di...
