Need cable advice tome reduces mids
audphile1  I believe you are correct, that it's the synergy between these components causing the problem. I was hoping that there would be a solution and I could salvage the system. In my listening sessions, the peaks never go above 75dB, so it's ...
New amp listening fatigue: Distortion or ??????
My Philharmonic BMR monitors are the older style with scanspeak paper cone drivers. I built them from a Meniscus Audio kit and used all high-end Clarity Caps in the tweeter and mid driver circuits, for a smoother sound. It's true they are the most...
New amp listening fatigue: Distortion or ??????
The amp/pre is used and would be broken in. It seems as if the sound is too intense, if that makes sense. The Hegel sounds good with any speakers I've tried with it, never fatiguing.
What are the best loudspeakers under $4000 to re-create lifelike piano
Philharmonic BMR monitor powered with a Hegel H95 or H 360, depending which room I move them to. They were a DIY kit from Meniscus Audio. In Baltic Birch cabs. I used top tier Clarity caps for the tweeter, air core inductors and mid tier Clarity c...
audiolab 6000 CDT transport
I have not seen any scratches on CD's. I just keep everything clean. Every so often I gently vacuum the slot area to remove any dust.
audiolab 6000 CDT transport
Had this for over a year now and still going strong, reads CD’s that are imperfect and sounds better than any CD player I've ever used.  Slot loading units are also in autos and resist temperature extremes and massive vibrations and work for decad...
Speakers for 300B --- Klipsch Heresy 4 or other ideas???
Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. I got the Lore Reference because I wanted something sooner rather than later. I'm still interested in building something - maybe this winter. The PI speakers look interesting. Maybe try my hand at building...
Speakers for 300B --- Klipsch Heresy 4 or other ideas???
OK purchased a pair of Tekton Lore Reference speakers for the 300B. I'm enjoying the synergy.
LinLai WE 300B or the LinLai Global Elite Permaloy 300B tubes ?
+1 on Telefunken ECC83. Sounds better than Gold Lion in my amp - more detail. For power tubes, I was using Valve Art 300B's and then found Shuguang Black Treasure at parts connexion for half price. They both sound good, with the BT sounding more r...
Speakers for 300B --- Klipsch Heresy 4 or other ideas???
Thanks for the suggestions, I'm looking into several of them and staying patient. I tried Zu DW and preferred the Tekton - the bass was stronger and the highs smoother. Going to keep tabs on the used market. My SS system will be set up first and d...

SLOT LOADING CD MECHANISMS - DO THE DAMAGE CD'S?
+1 audioguy - I've owned an audiolab 6000 transport for a year now and have seen no damage to any of my CD's. Just keep everything clean.
