Grado refrence arm help...........
I had one of these arms many years ago. There is a set screw to tighten some where very low on the post. Keep looking around until you find it. Do not tighten to hard, as the screw can pierce the pole in the post. Don't remember much more. Call Gr...
Best Tubes for Audible Illusions 3 Pre-Amp
Forget about anything other than Tele smooth plates. They cost a lot, but they sound so much better. Recently put them in my cjPV-9A. Phono has never been better.Jim
morch tonearm question.......
Eyiu,No! Prior to that was using a standard tonearm lead from VPI. Really old lead. Sorry not to have answered sooner, but was out traveling and working.Jim
Sound of Morch DP-6
Mine has never been bright over the last three years. It is used on an upgraded VPI HW-19 Mark IV with a Koetsu Rosewood.Jim
Turntable HUM
Six,I had the same problem with my HW-19 Mk IV upgraded with all TNT parts with a Walker speed control. Looked for two weeks before I realized my SAMA was touching the base of the turntable. Once moved and put on a mousepad, VOILA - no hum or vibr...
morch tonearm question.......
Kaput,I have never put the fluid in my Morch DP-6, as there is no good way to get it out, if you don't care for the sound. It does a very good job without the damping. This combination has been up and running for six years w/o problem with any car...
KAB speedstrobe????
This item functions beautifully, and there is nothing any better for less money. No association with the maker, just a happy with the product.Jim
Turntable comments and recommendations, please
Don't waste your money on things other than what Buscis2 has mentioned. I started with a Mark II in 1987, and it has been completely upgraded through the years to having all TNT parts and a SAMA. It is, in fact, excellent soundwise. The SAMA made ...
How to handle Clicks and pops
It could be the furnace, refrigerator, fluorescent lights (in another part of your domicile) being switched on and off. Check the CD, I have remasters that were done from very old records with all the pops and clicks inherent in the source. Keep w...
HELP Lack of bass with Pioneer PD-65 Elite
I have to agree with you! I had this unit for a number of years, and it never had strong bass response. My later Copland 288 had marginally better bass, but the simple, cheap Philips 963 DVD/SACD is all over both those in bass response. I have Swa...
Senior Audiophiles - Audiophile since the 60-70's?
Man, you guys are young! Have any of you snuck through your mother's and two grandmothers' houses stealing every sewing needle you could find, just so your two pound arm could have something other than a cactus needle. I was doing this at age seve...
Do reel to reel tapes fade over time...
Yes, some of those tapes fade over time, but I am still listening to tapes from the 50s and 60s that are great. I have been buying a number of old tapes on Ebay, and they sound excellent. One problem is that occasionally they will break. For insta...
Did I damage my cartridge?
I had the same problem with an Adcom HO MC after repeated use of Stylast. After it was returned to Adcom, they called me to say the Stylast plus gunk was up in the cartridge, and it was causing the fuzziness. They sent me a new cartridge, though i...
Record sleeves?
Should you ever have a fire or excessive heat anywhere near your vinyl treasures, the poly sleeves can melt right into the vinyl. HP lost a lot of Absolute Sound recommended records during a house fire. Nothing is better for your records than good...
Treating records with LAST preservative
You have to be careful with Last. It will definitely cause some types of vinyl to deteriorate sooner. On other types of vinyl, you will increase longevity and prevent deterioration. I ruined several Reference Recordings using it --- much noisier w...
