Grateful Dead Remasters?
I have a bunch of stuff from Rhino. They are the remaster masters IMO. I would bet on the Dead material. The Yes stuff is totally amazing as Sayggr suggests. The Relayer copy came out the best. I hope "Terrapin Station" is in there...
Sharing tube experiences with Cayin TA30/PrimaLuna
Nice assessment. What is your experience using the TA30 in single ended operation? A couple people are quoted as saying that it is killer with 6L6.. for 5 BIG watts.
Entry level tube integrated to replace T-Amp?
I second the opinion of Macrojack. The Signature 30 is a whole other creature, and switching between it and my tube amps means little, if ANY, tube withdrawal. Plus, it has, to use Srajan's phrase, "lead-filled brass balls." It sounds waay too lik...
Have you tried Red Wine?
MacrojackI just received the new Signature 30 on Friday. Even though T amps are supposed to sound ratty out the gate, this one didnt, and it is improving almost hourly to reveal a sound that actually mimics a very good SET type presentation in ter...
I'm blown away by the Sonic Impact tripath amp.
Slappy,Don't get me started. When I was a kid playing in a rock band, I had to make do wiring the wondrous triode amp in my Hammond organ into the Altec A7's we used as a PA system, to listen to practice tapes and albums. Little did I know that I ...
I'm blown away by the Sonic Impact tripath amp.
Amandarae,Sorry if I ruffled your feathers, I am just so over people making sweeping generalizations where $$ issues in terms of kwality, are supposed to be a key factor. In what? "Ultimate" enjoyment? I think the phrase "up the ladder," understan...
I'm blown away by the Sonic Impact tripath amp.
Amandarae,I have audtioned several of the above mentioned audiophool units; battery juice is something Entirely different, trust me. The First Watt is the most important, and when this thing is harnessed to compatible, read: >95db speaks, it ge...
I'm blown away by the Sonic Impact tripath amp.
If you like the liquidity of triodes, you need to check out the ClariT. Think of it as a tough inner-city SET, wearing leather, but obviously in touch with its female side. To be honest, the ClariT, now fully burned in, makes tube topology inadequ...
Vandersteen 1C set up
I have been eyeing the 1C for my 14X14 room. What is the "minimum" useable distance from the back wall without totally loading up the room? I could get away with about 18" no more; Your advice is appreciated. BTW, I LOVE the sound of these and 2Ce...
Yes Remasters-Gastwrit vs. Rhino
I did read that the remasters released by Rhino were supervised by Chris Squire, the final results were subject to approval by the band, as were the additional selections, which make the Rhino offering all the more worthwhile; These albums sound a...
Just ordered Axioms, any comments?
One reviewer hit the nail on the head on the M3ti saying: 'subjectively, small monitors don't get a whole lot better..' pretty much sums it up, and sold me. I tried the M40's and one would have to spend alot more to get much more.
Piano that sounds like a piano
Try Keith Jarrett, 'The Koln Concerts' perennial favorite of mine..
Carver Pro ZR1600
I have it on good advice that Carver Pro has already tapped Stan Warren as a consultant on the matter of a stripped down audiophile version, doing away with all the ancillary circuitry, such as the junk op amps and clip limiters up front, and some...
Carver Pro ZR1600
Sean, the best answers are to be found at the ongoing threads specifically on the Carver Pro ZR Tripath amps and modification discussion, at audiocircle.com. The short answer to your question is that from what I am seeing, they are pretty much loa...
