Solving the THIEL CS 5i's - vs- CS 7.2 Debate
THIEL CS 7.2's are 112 inches apart, center to tweeter.Distance from center to seat is 144 if I am reading this correctly.
Solving the THIEL CS 5i's - vs- CS 7.2 Debate
Well, my life and fortune were much different when I posted this original thread years ago, but I still have the CS 5i's and the CS 7.2's.  I did finally manage to take input from the thread not too long after the original post and reconfigured th...
Solving the THIEL CS 5i's - vs- CS 7.2 Debate
I had no idea that the CS 6's had such a following. The purpose of the shootout was to drive a flagship to flagship component exercise. An interesting debate exists between the CS 6's and the 3.6's, but from my viewpoint these components are drive...
Solving the THIEL CS 5i's - vs- CS 7.2 Debate
I am inspired to keep trying. I welcome any experienced enthusiasts from the D.C metro area to gauge and listen. My desire is to resolve and conclude the debate based on real listening and insightful discovery!
Solving the THIEL CS 5i's - vs- CS 7.2 Debate
@unsound given your passion to the capabilities of the 5's I am going to go back and modify the setup a little and change the location of the 5's to be independent of what I had for the 7.2s. Perhaps there is a comfort zone that can be achieved th...
Solving the THIEL CS 5i's - vs- CS 7.2 Debate
Kacz - I wouldn't know what to expect from the 6's unfortunately because have never sat down with a pair. My guess is they would be behind both, but I have zero evidence to support that assumption. Unsound - the 5's did a phenomenal job on the low...
How quiet is your room?
So it sounds like the low reading of 32-33 in Vapor's design / built room would serve as a good low benchmark. Impressive. I wonder how much of this is the preservation of outside sound coming in, as much as the absorption of internal ambient nois...
How quiet is your room?
My measurement was with the AC turned off. I am just below 50db with the AC running as my room backs up to the utility room.
Krell FPB 350Mcx's enough for THIEL 7.2's + CS5i's
@Steve - I have heard that the 400cx is a fantastic amp and highly rated. I am amazed that you have held onto the CS6's for so long and didn't make the jump to the 7.2's. Have you ever had the opportunity to listen to the 7.2's against the 6's? @T...
Krell FPB 350Mcx's enough for THIEL 7.2's + CS5i's
@Tom - Did you get rid of the Krells or the THIELs? or both?I have been so impressed by the THIEL 7.2's. They have continued to improve with every component upgrade I have made over the past three years. They do an extraordinary job at reveling sy...
Krell FPB 350Mcx's enough for THIEL 7.2's + CS5i's
The next big upgrade is going to either be a higher quality CD player, or perhaps a turntable. I currently do not have an analog source, so I might have to make the leap and give it a listen.
Krell FPB 350Mcx's enough for THIEL 7.2's + CS5i's
Thanks Lloyde. I really feel fortunate to own these amps and have them in my system. They are truely remarkable and have show me things that I didn't think were possible audio wise.Everything that I thought were components of reflection and noise i...
Krell FPB 350Mcx's enough for THIEL 7.2's + CS5i's
I wanted to circle back on this thread and let folks know that I ended up going with the Krell 650M's. Timing is everything, and these amps were the right amps at the right time and at the right price. I am extraordinarily happy with them as I con...
Krell FPB 350Mcx's enough for THIEL 7.2's + CS5i's
The listening room is 18 ft wide, by 20 ft deep. The Theater is 18 wide by 24 ft deep. Good size rooms, but not enormous. Got a little freaked out by the comment above RE: volume. I should probably do myself the favor and undercut the capacity. Ca...
Krell FPB 350Mcx's enough for THIEL 7.2's + CS5i's
Interesting. I think the 750's would be a big push for me. I probably wouldn't stretch the speakers out enough to notice the difference. I do like the idea of not having to buy another set of amps though because i'm "wondering" what the 750's woul...
