Is using an Apple Computer a weak link...?
audiotroy:I appreciate your point, but note that you discuss the noise on the USB cable.  If the MacPro (desktop not laptop) is connected to the DAC by ETHERNET, is there still an issue with noise reaching the DAC?
Is using an Apple Computer a weak link...?
I would appreciate some clarification w/r to this discussion:(1) I am under the impression that the "effect" of a computer on sound quality depends on the software used to send the music file to the DAC.  For example, I have read that if you have ...
What tubes are in you Rogue RP-5?
Speak with Mark Obrien or Nick at Rogue. Describe for him what characteristics you want and he will make suggestions as to the most appropriate tubes. I did with regards to my RP-7, and he suggested I swap for Telefunkens   The sound improvement w...
Puritan PSM156
I have been using a puritan 156 with their upgraded power cord for about 6 months and am impressed by the improvement in sound, especially the clarity of the bass, the articulation and separation in the midrange and lack of harshness in the treble...
Rogue Audio Stereo 100, Atlas Magnum III anybody running them? Sound signatures?
I had the Stereo100s.  Excellent and highly recommended.  The bass is full and articulate.  The midrange clear with good separation of instruments and a wide soundstage.  Treble is not harsh.  The overall sound is not "warm" as would be expected w...
NORDOST vs CARDAS USB cables
Please see the second part of this review which unfortunately, I had to post separately because I could not add to my initial post (or at least I do not know how to do so)...  Thanks
NORDOST vs CARDAS USB cables
edge wound:I compared a generic USB Cable to the Cardas on my home system prior to the test described above.  The difference was truly "night and day" in that the generic cable presented a veiled, "mushy", cloudy sound without articulation, a smal...
Puritan vs Nordost Power Cable
My unit came with the ultimate power cord which compared extremely favorably with a Nordost Valhalla. However, I was not able to compare the ultimate and the classic cords.  I would be interested in whether the upgrade is sonically worthwhile.
Best Speaker wire with Rogue Audio amp and preamp for $2K or less?
Consider Nordost.  Even their lower price series are a very good match with the Rogue equipment.
Amp for Sonus Faber Sonetto ii- 1500 or less
Consider the Rogue Audio Sphinx (solid state). or used the Cronus Magnum (tube).  I have a friend with the Sphinx and the SF and it is really nice (assuming good cables).
AGD Audion GaN Class D In The House
For those who have the Audions, are you using the "stock" cables that came with the amps or have you found it necessary to "upgrade" the power cables? Thanks
Puritan vs Nordost Power Cable
Jerry:I am in the US (Virginia).I purchased from a local dealer.  He let me take the 156 and the cables home for a week and do comparisons.  I imagine most of their dealers and distributors would do the same. There is a list of distributors on thei...
Puritan vs Nordost Power Cable
From their website:Entry into our elite Studio Master range starts with the PSM136. 39 filtration elements progressively coax noise out from the power cycle. DC offset correction is standard and each of the 6 x 15 Amp outputs incorporates its own ...
AGD Audion GaN Class D In The House
Has anyone compared the AGD Audion with Rogue Audio amps?
Puritan vs Nordost Power Cable
upgrade meant to replace the stock puritan cord ("classic") with their "ultimate" cord.
