Audiophile speakers that get loud
I test drove a pair of Usher Be-718 Tiny Dancers and I was able to push them to crazy-loud levels and they never skipped a beat. They have the added bonus of an easy WAF appearance.
Newbie needs HELP!
You'll probably want to hunt down some form of USB Y Cable that splits power and data. Connect the power section to the hub as needed, and connect the data-only to the dac.Suggested viewing:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1BK-UtNhK4https://www.st...
Newbie needs HELP!
It sounds like what you want is a USB Power Bank. Specifically, you would power your usb hub via the power bank, and run whatever you needed powered through the hub. The power bank would also allow you to utilize a more stable DC current, compared...
Am i missing something without a power conditioner?
"... My question is with these high quality power cords do i still need a power conditioner?"It depends on how stable your Power-Station source is, and what your 20 amp line connects to. I'm in a condo. So I have to take neighbor usage into accoun...
Actual Rega Osiris owners
The volume control is a continuous radial pot. You set the volume by turning the pot to the desired "clock position" volume level, like on a NAIM SN2. There are no readouts other than the "clock" position of the pot. When I owned an Osiris (more l...
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh?
" I must say it was rather off putting. Is it really impossible to expect VERY nice speakers for around five-thousand a pair? Wow!..."B&W 805 Diamond-3 speakers list for $6K. I had 805D2s for a while. Very detailed, but the tweeters are also v...
speakers with balls
You guys are amateurs...If you want speakers with Rad 'Nads, combine the Tannoy Westminster Royal Gold Reference with a Wilson Audio Thor's Hammer sub-woofer.Then put on Black Sabbath's Paranoid Album, and turn it up to Eleven.
Sonus Faber Venere 3.0 Opinions?
I had Venere 2.0 bookshelves setup for my home theater for a couple years. I thought they worked well within a "movie" context, where a forward, somewhat punched-up colored sound would enhance the "cinematic experience". At the same time, the Vene...
Thief Alert
@dweller: It's a nice idea, but the basic economics work out that it's more viable for dealers simply to do consigned sales, as it allows them to take 30% to 40% off the top of the final sale price as their fee. When payment clears the merchandise...

Need Small Bookshelf Speakers With a Big Sound
Not sure if the OP is still on the market...If the issue with the LS50 was the Orange Doily, KEF does have other colors available (or at least they used to). I almost purchased a pair of LS50s that had a Black Enclosure but with the a Blue Baffle....
Apartment Dweller's Paradise - The Ideal 2 ch. system?
As per a number of my responses in other threads, I'm a Condo Dweller and have pondered variations of this thread for a number of years... In building my own systems, I first identified speakers that were (1) condo/apt friendly and (2) had a "hous...
Dac Suggestions for Rega System
If you're amenable to selling the Apollo-R and doing an upgrade, the DAC in the Rega Saturn-R is tough to beat. The Saturn-R was designed to also function as a standalone DAC and handle numerous source inputs. Combined with the Elex-R and the LS50...
Arcam 600 Amp---seeking high end DVD player that interfaces well---possible?
I had an Arcam DV79 that worked great for both 5.1 movies with a Denon AVR, and later as a dedicated 2-channel CD player with Linn separates. Switching modes to output 5.1 wasn't a big deal with the Arcam (but I will acknowledge that setting up an...
WARNING - USE UPS FOR SHIPPING RATHER THAN FEDEX
Something else to keep in mind is that UPS has a history of not reimbursing shippers/sellers in instances where the original manufacturer's shipping box/container was not used to send an item. That, and UPS also has a history of following the parad...
