Your oldest gear?
Mac 2100 and a Mac C 26 bought used in 1985 for $400 and still in use today. Both have been recapped twice. Also a pair of Acoustat Spectra 1100, 30 years ago and the only gear I've bought new.

My Audiolab 6000cdt gave me a shock multiple times and now it won't pickup the remote signal. At least it gets me out of the chair......

I have a pair of 30y/o ESL's, Acoustat Spectra 1100's that continue to impress me with each improvement in my other components. Anyone else have older ESL's?

What has been a favourite moment in Audio?
Putting in my first hearing aid after years of needing one. Brought tears to my eyes when I turned on the stereo.
My All Time Christmas Song
Christmas in the Trenches by John McCutcheon, the gentleman who wrote it.
What is your "holy grail song" that you cannot find?
Modern Day Magic by Marie Cain. Heard it on a demo album when I was a DJ on a Nome, Alaska radio station.
Hardware or source materail
+1 for cart upgrade, then phono stage. Made a huge difference in my vintage Mac system. I'm an old guy too, with very similar tastes.
Hearing aid question
Absolutely get the hearing aids, decent ones after and audiology appointment. I did that 2 yearsa ago and it was the best audiophile expense to date.
Improving a stone rack
I'm looking to use a glass shelf rack, 5 shelves that sit in slots in the wood frame with a soft vinyl supporting the shelves. A Technics 1500c tt will sit on the top. If anything, what type of damping would work well on a budget? I was thinking o...
