What's the best isolation system?
I suggest reading info at www.avisolation.com There is a wealth of info there.
Speaker tweak
Yes Subaruguru, $125 for small plates with huge results. Seriously, try them out. I've spent much much more with far less results. I'm not affiliated with them, just impressed all to Hell.I've used weights, sandbags, and nearly every other tweek k...
Speaker tweak
I heard a demonstration at CES with Harmonic Resolution Systems plates on top of Totem Speakers. These plates made much more positive effects than by just mass loading. The 4.5" X 9.5" plates that were demonstrated were around $125 each, per plate...
Where to buy a cheap relyable tube tester????
I agree with Ed, $50 worth of Tube Tester doesn't buy you much. There is pretentiousness throughout all of our hobby, but this is one area where I believe it is worth spending a little money. A bad tube that shorts out will take out circuit compon...
The Recording Producer
The use of compression and limiting is needed for airplay and with use of sub-standard electronics. (Some will distort heavily when pushed with too much dynamic contrast). Other factors are microphones and recording components that limit the dynam...
The Color Of Vinyl
It has been suggested by those with far greater knowledge than me that black vinyl contains carbon which may cause greater surface noise and higher noise floor than a color without, White for example. Perhaps someone with real knowledge, (note: Re...
CES 2003: Which products impressed you?
I was very impressed with the Harmonic Resolution Systems demonstration of their platforms, damping plates, and their pucks (Nimbus isolators). I brought a set of their Nimbus Isolators home and lost much midrange and higher frequency glare that I...
New Jazz Releases..What Do You Like?
I just returned from CES with the new Jazzstream Records Sampler that I'd got at the Elusive Disc booth in the ballroom at the Alexis Park. The first song on the sampler features a gal that sings "Save Your Love for Me" and nails it better than Ja...
Is there a Guide Available to Grading LP's.
I'd only buy from those that grade using the strict Goldmine standards. If they don't know what Goldmine is, chances are, (they haven't a clue), they will misgrade, and won't have any idea as to grading in general. Just my experience with 20 years...
Lindemann D680, how does it sound?
Isn't this the unit that Albert Porter is currently reviewing?
What are the "Must have" LP's?

Mobile Fidelity Sound labs Question
Remember boys, that Mo Fi was closed, but is now re-opened and producing new SACD's, etc. Jim Davis of Music Direct is the new owner. Just wanted you to know, the new SACD's are very good.
Speaker Cable for Avalon Eidolons
Avalon use to be heavily committed to FIM. Now that FIM Cables have changed name to Cable Research Labs, perhaps there are reasons unknown for their non-committment? If you own Avalons, and want to hear the bottom end that they are capable of prod...
FIM 880 AC Outlet-- Best tweak I've ever heard
Yes, I've tried and have compared in my system both the Acme and Jena. The FIM still works best within my system.
Reel to Reel Question?
Personally, I think that the studio console that houses my Tube Research modified 270 Scully looks very nice. However, please don't ask the wife!
