First round of auditions disappointing
Thanks for the info, Seadweller.I don't know how the upper end Totems sound, but I sure have been impressed with the Forests and the Arros. And this coming from a horn fan who finds most box speakers to sound too sequestered with respect to convey...
First round of auditions disappointing
Seadweller (do you frequently sell on Timezone, by the way?),Specifically which amp, cables & CD player are you using? Sorry for all of the questions, but it will help to recommend speakers that will fit your stated requirements. Also, you migh...
First round of auditions disappointing
10+ threads into this, I for one am unclear as to what you want. A Klipsch? A Merlin? A giant killer from Asia? A full-range speaker? Planar, box, horn???? CES will help narrow the field, but it does so under conditions that do not mirror those th...
First round of auditions disappointing
Looking at the range of speakers discussed in your threads suggests that you really need to get out and listen to MANY speakers in order to narrow the field a bit.Like most people, you will probably come away from CES with a sense that 2 or 3 sys...
The proverbial "giant killer"
The top of the Wilson line of speakers are giant killers (IMO)At over $100K, I'd have to classify them as giants. Although if they drink the blood of the $1 million Kharma's, then I suppose you have a point.
UPS doesn't just damage and lose Hi-end gear
And rightly so I was to be worried. No damage to the outside of the box, but the amplifier glass was shattered, and it won't power on. Thanks, UPS...you're the greatest!
The proverbial "giant killer"
Giant Killers are actually Giants purchased used.Bingo. A bargain, as it were.
UPS doesn't just damage and lose Hi-end gear
You guys have me worried, because I'm waiting for an amp to be delivered any minute from UPS. With my luck, I'll open the box and find Mariah's fur coat instead.
Audio Icon/Idol - Who would you like to meet?
First, I would like to stand over the shoulder of Antonio Stradivari as he works. And from the modern era, I would like to have a chat with Mark Levinson. For the same reason Aball mentioned about Dave Wilson, I'd love to find out more about the mi...
The proverbial "giant killer"
My question is, are speakers from the likes of Swans and Triangle truly “giant killer” products that are being overlooked by audiophiles for unjustified reasons?I've not heard Swans. I've heard Triangle speakers on several occasions. With the righ...
For all of you X fans
I'd forgotten about Viggo & Exene connection, from which came a son .The first time I saw X was in a club only a few blocks from where we saw Exene last night. That was 24 years ago. While singing, I think she actually displayed even more ene...
Do these speakers exist?
$5K? For the current version?Yes.A few GMA owners I've spoken with is that they did not pay retail even when buying new. Discounts may or may not be standard...not sure about that.
Do these speakers exist?
The C3s "blew me away". If they weren't $17KThe last two pair in the classifieds were both listed for under $5K. It could be worth the wait. The GMA's are outstanding speakers, as you already know.
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
duane allman. just typing his name gives me goose bumpsNow try writing it out longhand. You'll have to slip on a pair of Depends, but it's worth it. :-)
