Jeff Rowland Capri preamp
Thanks for the response. The preamp will be paired with a pair of Channel Island Audio D-100 monoblocks, fed by a Cyrus CD8x cd player. The Cyrus is a very good cd player but can be a little bright if paired with the wrong equipment. Your descript...
Elac 4 pi Plus.2 supertweeters...
I also would be interested in any comments on this supertweeter. Does anyone have any experience with it?
Audio drops out when I hit a light switch
Thanks for the replies. Good to know mine isn't the only the only DAC2 affected! I'm actually only going to be living in this house for about 18 months (I'm renting, so I can't really go the whole re-wiring route) so maybe I'll just grin and bear ...
Bit perfect digital output from pc
I certainly don't consider my iPod to be a high-end piece of gear. My line of thinking is that with a Mac I can use iTunes and get a 44.1KHz digital signal to my external dac, straight out of the box.I had been considering a pc, but in addition to...
Bit perfect digital output from pc
I actually already have an iPod, which again is making me lean towards a Mac. As you mention, it sounds just far simpler. EAC, Foobar, ASIO drivers etc to me is less seamless than what a Mac offers.
Bit perfect digital output from pc
Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking I may go the Mac route. It seems much simpler all round and a lot easier than putting together my own pc!

Thanks for the response - that makes it sound kinda easy! Is there any sound quality difference between using ASIO drivers or kernel streaming?
Amp Ground Plug - Safe to Remove?
Thanks for the responses. I'll definitely get a voltmeter and check it out, though I gather the risk of electrocution is pretty small. One other small question - when you say 'attach one lead to ground' where specifically should I attach it (forgi...
Preamp/Amp impedance mismatch
Thanks for the replies - that's certainly reassuring. The main reason why I'm leaning towards a Linn preamp is because of the compact size - which is all that will fit in my rack - and the HT pass-thru feature.Does anyone have any comments on the q...
Marantz SR-9600
Thanks for the response. Separates would undoubtedly be a better way to go but I do have an issue with space. Also, I've found it hard to find separates that meet my needs quite so well, especially for running 'zone 2' speakers (I have outdoor spe...
Best preamp in an AV receiver
Thanks Javachip. I was in Canberra, then in Korea, and now back in Canberra but still with a 'in Korea' hotmail account (I may be going back to Korea in January so it's worth keeping it for the time being!).I'll look into the Adcom. It does sound ...
Best preamp in an AV receiver
Unfortunately I don't have the room for another component. I already have the separate power amps for FL and FR, so maybe a really small pre-amp with HT pass-thru...?
WooAudio 2
Have you had a look over at Head-fi (www.head-fi.org). There's a fair bit in the forums there on WooAudio amps, though I'm not sure about the 2 preamp.
Denon 2900 and Dacs
They're no where near it. Let's put it this way, if you connected a good outboard dac - Benchmark Dac 1 or Bel Canto DAC2 etc) to your Denon 2900 you would notice a major improvement in sound.I added a Bel Canto DAC2 to my Marantz DV8400, which al...
Marantz Player Question
WashlineTotally off topic, and just out of interest, what are you doing in Korea? I lived there for four years and just returned home late last year.If it makes it vaguely on-topic, I bought a lot of good hi-fi equipment from the second floor of t...
