What is your most fond musical memory.
Just remembered another one. Understand I used to play the drums. I'm on a plane, when in walks Ginger Baker, strolling down the isle. I was a starstruck young doofus, so I say..."You're Ginger Baker". He replied, "And you're not!". Why he wasn'...
Have you found your "End-Game" speakers yet? I have. And it feels so good!!!
I've had my used Dali Euphonia MS5 speakers for a few years now. I've added a 4 sub array. I'm still blown away every time I sit and listen. I always have a big smile on my face. I've noticed a couple pair on sale right now for a darn good price....
What do/did you do for a living?
Just retired commercial artist. Working mostly with Disney the last 35 years. Freelance. I’ve painted for all the movie companies, VHS + DVD covers, movie posters, etc. If you’ve had kids, you’ve probably had my art on your shelves. House in the ...
What is your most fond musical memory.
Around 1969. I was 16, played the drums. I was jamming with some guys I barely knew. Some new guy walk in, older than us, picks up the bass and joins in. Damn he was good, we all thought. After he left one of the guys says, "That was David Brown,...
What is your most fond musical memory.
My best friend told me she once (in New Jersey) went to sort of battle of the bands in a high school auditorium. Don't know the year. She was leaning on the stage watching among other bands, Black Sabbath before their first album came out.
What was your first record?
Cat Stevens, my favorite movie from the time, Harold & Maude wouldn't be the same without his soundtrack. I used to date quite a lot. I'd take them all to the midnight showing of H&M that played in Redondo beach. If they didn't like the fi...
What was your first record?
jay, you made me laugh out loud!
Being alone with your music
oregon...small world. I was recently looking at my high school yearbook, and noticed that Wolfman Jack DJ'd at my graduation dance. Miraleste High, LA. Just remembered the first album that made me realize parents were clueless about 'current' mus...
Are your listening levels healthy? Doing damage?
My friends laughed at me when, even in the 60's and 70's I'd put earplugs in whenever my band played, or when I'd go to a concert. Who's laughing now? I'm the only one that doesn't wear hearing aids. Hypersensivity has paid off.
New finds In Record Collection
Bought 12 feet of albums from a garage sale (if you don't see any out-make sure to ask). Anyway. $75 for all of them. Took over a year to give them all a listen, but now I have a new appreciation for some 50s and early 60's music.Especially record...
AI and the future of music
Someone needs to develop a mobile Faraday suit, so we can be 'invisible' to Big Bro. If anyone has Netflix, I suggest you watch Black Mirror Season 6, episode 1. It's part of the reason the writers and actors continue to be on strike. Plus you'l...
AI and the future of music
I don't think this has been addressed yet. As a professional artist, the age old question, "Where do you get your ideas from" is always asked of me. Well, in my case it's a matter of closing off the floodgate of ideas. It's always been constant. ...
AI and the future of music
@rettrussell and ibmjunkman Thanks for the 'Beatles' songs. So unexpected and welcome.
AI and the future of music
I am a retired professional illustrator. I've painted hundreds of jobs for Disney, Mattel, Dreamworks, Marvel, Universal, etc. Just a few months ago I was shown images created by an AI program called Stable Diffusion. Some of the images are fanta...
What does it take to be a die hard Beatles fan?
To answer the OP's question...when I found myself purchasing a couple of original 35mm slides of them in their heyday. What the hell do I need those for? They do look pretty good though, once I fixed them up in Photoshop. I guess I just wanted som...
