Digital Clock Question

If one has a digital clock built into both their cd player and their processor, and you hook up the cd player digitally, are both clocks working on the signal or is the clock in the cd player bypassed because you are using the digital out on the cd player? Thanks.

With a regular (not I2s) digital connection the processor clock will become a "slave" to the CD clock, or more precisely to that clock as reflected by the speed of the incoming digital information. In professional gear and a few high end products there is either a seperate clock synch connection or a cable which allows for that second connection (e.g. the Muse Model 8 and Model 296 combo). The pro stuff just uses a seperate "word-clock" connection.
