Yes but not consciously or deliberately. I was at boarding school when CDs happened. The form factor of CDs together with the fact that my Phillips CD 151 player seemed to sound cleaner than my LPs, meant that I first started acquiring CDs in preference to LPs and later just stopped freighting the vinyl. My LPs stayed at my parents’ house along with the Garrad turntable until they downsized and got rid of everything. Now, in my 50s I am back to vinyl but with a deliberate approach to getting the very best out of it. |
I had a high quality TT when CD's first came out. Of course I purchased the best CD player available at the time based on the advice of the Audio shop I did business with. I liked CD's at first but after a while they sounded clinical compared to vinyl. Now I stream everything, better all around in my opinion. |
