Do you have any gear that was outright given to you?

I was fortunate enough to have been gifted a McIntosh PS112 subwoofer. They are quite old now, but it continues to perform. It needed some repairs when it was given to me- a total of not quite $300 put it back into good working order.

Yes , I was gifted a Musical Fidelity CD-1 transport. I sent it to the manufacturer and had it serviced at a cost of $150. I paired it with a nice cable and it works well. Same person gave me a pair of Rogue M-180’s that one had an issue. I sent them to Rogue and it needed a single resistor on the driver circuit. Rogue said the diodes were tired in both power supply’s. Since they were free I went for a full Dark upgrade and new tubes. My FREE amps wound up costing me $3K , but that was my choice.

A perfect pair of Chartwell LS3/5as with an extra NOS woofer that my neighbor had and his adult kids gave me when he passed away and they were cleaning out the house.

Good karma I guess.

Pop was generous with his hand-me-downs! Linn LP12 with Rabco tonearm. Conrad-Johnson Premier 6. California Audio Labs Aria. Nakamichi 700 cassette. All but the Nak are in my system currently. (The Nak is in storage)

Happy listening.

Perhaps a more interesting question is does anyone have gear they’d like to give me? 🤪

Ok, seriously now, I have both given and received. I’m not sure which I like best, though the joy in both is priceless. Best thing about every exchange is the relationship that comes with the gear.

My last receipt was a Bluesound Node2i and a Gigafoil Inline conditioner. I bought the Wireworld cables. It was a great introduction to streaming, born of a conversation with a new friend. Thanks Bob!!!
