Sonore Signature Rendu SE

I recently upgraded from the Sonore opticalRendu and paused to question my own sanity given the increased spend. I thoroughly enjoyed the opticalRendu for over a year and would highly recommend any Sonore solutions as an entry into the streaming market. While a comparison was not performed with the ultraRendu I can praise the optical connection for ultra clear signal. Those craving CD quality and above should implement this connectivity in your system.

The Signature Rendu is absolutely amazing in its clarity, detail and simplicity.  It is the powerhouse that you often read about in other technical reviews. The optical USB input port is very convenient and eliminates an extra converter and cable expense.  Same with the internal power supply. For those contemplating whether an external power supply would provide better performance, I did not find this to be the case when upgrading.  In terms of the sound, it is a night and day difference between the two Rendus.  The Signature Rendu is far superior than the opticalRendu. It is similar to the difference between listening to a band’s recordings and seeing them in concert.   I can assure those who are also questioning whether the upgrade is worth the additional expense, it is for sure. I would not hesitate in making the same decision again if it should arise.

I bought a used Sig Rendu  and had it upgraded to SE Deluxe to replace an UltraRendu powered by Uptone JS-2.  The SRendu is amazingly better, I have no issues with its internal power supply.

For me it worked with no problems after the upgrade.  I have it between an Innuos Server and Lampizator DAC to use the Ethernet out of the server with an OpticalModule Deluxe for fiber to the SRendu.

@majacquin Did you ever resolve the problem or did you just eat the SRendu and the upgrade?  Warranty fix?  Refund?
I am
reliving your day and nightmare currently.  Bought an SRendu SE sent it in and had it upgraded to the Deluxe last Aug/Sept and have had constant intermittent dropouts and track skips using Roon.  I also have had issues with the SRD not appearing in Roon but those seem to be resolved. I have an OpticalRendu that works flawlessly when it replaces the SRD using the exact same setup. Jesus is currently working with me to try to resolve.  This seems to beca somewhat common issue and Sonore doesn’t seem to know how to fix it…am I wrong?

I have had two Signature Rendu SE Deluxe Optical streamers. They have  provided the best sound I have heard in my system, which is fluid, with a dense tonality, and leaning toward full and rich, while never thin, harsh, or digital sounding. They can be a little picky with the network handshake but once you figure it out, the connection remains solid IME. The optical connection is a plus IMO, and has never caused problems in my system.  I may get another for a second system.

In response to your question, tksteingrabber:  I bailed.  I had years of solid Signature Rendu SE performance.  The Deluxe upgrade never worked with the same hardwired Server, modem, and switch I had used previously.  I sold it and told the buyer I would refund if not satisfactory.  I have not heard he had any problems.  I ran the Sonore with the Small Green Computer Server and their own Tech Net switch.  Dropout nightmare.  Gremlins?  I didn't have time for the whole drama.  Picked up a refurbished Air Lens from PSAudio and it frankly sounds great never a problem and less money.  Basically a similar concept to the optical connection, although not the same technology.   I will stick with it until I can win the lottery and get a DCS Vivaldi Apex.

Sorry, tksteingrabber, I did not answer your questions completely.  I had so much trouble (multiple emails, calls)  getting my streamer back from Sonore after having sent it in (on my dime for shipping) to get the dropouts resolved that I just decided "the heck with it".  I was done with the hassle.  I attempted to get answers from Sonore as to why the same chain of equipment that had previously worked with the same unit failed.  However, I was just told "it works fine on our bench".
