Has anyone tried the Buf / Schiit Audio? Esp. interested in hearing it with a Class D Purifi amplifier and your sound experience.  Thank you

While it's cheap, the problem is cables - two RCA in and two RCA out. That could get expensive. Not to mention the fact that you will want to replace the tube that comes with the unit. One is likely to spend at least a few hundred dollars to get up and running on a $99 unit.

But if you feel your system needs some warmth and additional gain, then it may be worth a try. I just feel like the unit is a gadget and not a true audiophile product.

I was interested in this Schiit device for similar reasons - potentially adding some welcome warmth to a slightly clinical but otherwise really enjoyable setup. But I came to the same conclusion as @goodlistening64 as far as cable complexity and tube upgrades. So I never went through with it. Could still be worth a try in the right setup though.

I haven't received the Amp yet, Friday, 6/5.
I purchased a pair of XLR- RCA  cables for $30; and as far as the tube goes; I have a bunch of tubes here...and if none sound good, I'll ship back the Buf. Yes, it's a gadget, but that's why I'm asking; some gizmo's are useful.

I wish Schiit would integrate the Buf into one of their equalizers. The equalizer would have it’s own defeat button. Hence, one could listen to the Tube and then, as an option, flip a toggle switch, and manipulate the 6-band equalizer to fix the distorted signal the tube supplies.

Or, just defeat the equalizer to hear the tube only.

And if both the equalizer and Buf had their own defeat buttons, one could defeat both of them and just listen to the cables. Great for those that desire to listen to cable burn-in. Or those that want an equalizer to fix cable burn-in anomalies on the fly.
