Great - thank you for the advice. that sounds like the best solution for me right now (and does not involve me dropping another $3k for a new streamer/DAC)
how to use Aurliac Altair G1 - no lightning DS App anymore
Does anyone have any recommendation on how to control an Altair G1 now that the Lightning DS app is gone?
I had issues with the app connecting to my streamer, so I thought I would delete and re-download it. Little did I know that the app is gone from the App Store (IOS)...so not sure what I can do...obviously controlling through the front panel is an option...but certainly not very useful or easy.
Thank you!

While many users praise Roon for its interface and library management, a subset of audiophiles has reported complaints regarding its sound quality (SQ), often describing it as "hard-edged," "flat," "colored," or "anemic" compared to native streaming apps or direct-from-server playback. Anyway not my business. Enjoy the music. |
@lanx0003 no worries - I appreciate the input. I never thought that you could hear a difference between 2 different hi-res digital sources that were being processed through the same DAC and Preamp/Amp combo. But I did in fact notice (think I posted about this a while ago) how I could hear a significant difference between playing the same song via Qobuz versus a ripped lossless file (with the ripped lossless file sounding better) At this point, for $599 for a Nucleus One, and the ability to keep using the Auralic DACs, I am willing to give it a try. Thank you

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for comments on my situation. I bought the Roon Nucleus One and had it up and running, playing my files, in about 15 minutes. I am using my Auralic Altair G1 as the DAC (which I love) and it sounds perfect. Exactly the same as when I played my files directly from the Altair. Roon definitely has a different IOS interface, but I will work it out :)
and thanks @easystreamer for the initial suggestion!
