I left Audiogon for a while because they censored my posts. And guess who my comments were about. ASR. I'm not going to waste time making a long post only to have it removed because it hurt someone's feelings, so I'll say this. I challenge anyone to look at all of ASR's reviews and find a single instance where he used something that would be considered real science in anything he's ever done. And just to be clear, he's under no obligation to do anything. How ASR reviews a product is entirely up to them. However, science is the S in ASR, and it looks like most, if not all of his followers, think he's doing real science. I've also posted on his youtube channel. He thought I was kidding until I proved he really doesn't do science. Now, he just removes my posts the second he sees them.The only reason you remove a post is because you don't want anyone to read it. Lets see how long it takes until they remove this one.

This is a critical review by Audio Science Review regarding a speaker crossover upgrade kit sold by GR Research for the Ascend Sierra-2EX V2 speakers. The video features a neutral A/B comparison and argues, with evidence, that the measurement methodology was flawed, that the performance was made worse, that false concerns about impedance are asserted, and overall there is no objective evidence of improvement and that the Ascend Sierra-2EX V2 is already a well-engineered speaker that does not require aftermarket modifications.

I don't know much about GR Research but I once listened to him trash my speakers (JBL 4311) claiming the JBL engineers didn't know what they were doing, the crossover caused comb filtering, and other ridiculous assertions. Of course, at the end he offered a $700 crossover kit to "fix them". He had no clue how those drivers and crossover were designed to work together. The gall to say the most popular studio monitors of their time were "trash". He may have a devoted group of followers, but he's really just a snake oil salesman trying to cash in on people's insecurities. |
