Stretching out with other worldly and US jazz influenced music

I wanted to start a thread to show there is more than just Avant Garde and or Straight Ahead Jazz music in our world. And there is absolutely nothing wrong at all with Avant Garde and or Straight Ahead Jazz music as I do love that part of US Jazz based culture. But sometimes I want to hear and add more sound spices as it were, from other worldly and US jazz influenced music.

There is so much more other worldly and US jazz influenced music that goes unnoticed and it's time to bring those musics of different sound spices to the forefront to be shared.

Although I have started this thread I am not a or the moderator. Let me repeat I am not a or the moderator. I don't have the time nor energy to police anyone's take on the music they like and want to share. As I will always try and be open to others choices of music.

About The Meters, same for me with Gene Harris. I was really surprised that I had not heard of him. Then you’ll love this. The Meters – Funkify Your Life (Anthology) Discogs. I got this 2 cd box set years ago cd crate digging in the cd resale bin. Even if it’s only just us Three Funketeers, let’s keep this groove thang going y’all. Who knows? Maybe we can get more to post some known and unknown jam/gems here.

Eddie Harris – Is It In

Here is another one for all you Jazz Funkateers out there. I’ve had this crate dug album for many years and have played the grooves off of it. Eddie Harris mic’d up his sax and created his own sound(s) and groove(s).  Hope y’all enjoy.

Meanwhile this Eddie Harris cover has the best (and only?) hyperrealist painting of an electrical plug I’ve ever seen. This is truly where vinyl has no equal - try looking at cover art on a 3x3 streamer screen - but dont let me get started 😃
