Pass Labs Amps - Does the heat bother you?

XA60.5 owner. Not at all. But I have an open space so the amps get as much “air” around them as possible. I guess if you had a small room it could warm it up a bit. However, I think the heat they give off is pretty minimal as long as they’re not in a rack or anything like that. The manual says basically the same thing.

Over the years, I've had a Pass-Labs 30.8, and several First-Watt amps all of which ran hot. The F-W SIT-2's and F8 ran hot as they were class-A as was the P-L 30.8.  The sound was great in all of them.  I presently have an Accuphase A48 also class-A which runs just as hot as the P-L and F-W amps.  At idle or full tilt, they will run just about as hot as class-A is always driving.  The sound is worth it !  IMHO...

Running XA60.8 monos with KEF Reference 1 Meta. They get warm but not hot. I have them on Sound Anchors stands in the middle of the speakers completely out in the open so they get good ventilation. Love the sound quality and the company, the heat and electricity usage are worth it IMO. 

Big boy Aleph 1.2’s here. They get hot. Not a problem.

I had a used X250 and it was one of the best-sounding amps in my system and the reliability was off the charts Pass will stand behind what they sell no matter when they built it. As far as heat yes very warm and even in standby it pulls more electricity than two refrigerators a plasma TV… you get my drift. My wife said our utility bill dropped by $60 a month
