Connecting High Res Audio files into my Denafrips Venus II 12th

I am considering purchasing Hi-Res Audio - 192khz 24bit - Albums from HD Tracks or others rather than stepping up to SACD due to the cost.  I currently have a CD Transport connected vis I2S and a Streamer connected via USB.  The audio quality from both is excellent.  I like owning my  music and I have a large Record and CD collection.  I do not see the value in moving into SACD due to many factors such as cost and availability of both hardware and software.

I want to explore owning Hi-res Audio.  I would like to know how you would store your files and how would you connect to the Venus DAC?  It has the I2S, USB, SPDIF, Coax, BNC, and AES inputs.

CONGRATS on making the jump to Hi Rez audio!

I own my music as well.  I don't like the streaming services becasue they screw over the artists.  I like to support the artists by purchasing the high resolution albums; I also want to be able to play my music if the internet access is down.  Who needs to deal with THAT???

You can certainly store your music on the Eversolo, but I have to tell you that the upload interface is painful.  If you can deal with it, it's fine, but you may want to look at a NAS.  Uploading to a NAS is a lot smoother.  It's also nice to separate the music files from the streamer as it gives your music library a layer of protection if your Eversolo goes kablooey.  In the Eversolo settings, you just enter the NAS share name for your music library.  It's fairly straightforward.

Just my $.02!!!

I bet the Venus is glorious.  I have the Pontus 15th and it's amazing.

Happy listening!!!

That is a very good idea and I will do some research on NAS.  A question?  When you buy a High Res digital album, do you get some type of certificate of ownership?  I would hate to have a hardware or data corruption issue that causes my files to be rendered useless.

As to the Venus, I found an exceptional deal on a used Venus II 12th shortly after the 15th came out.  It was my first time investing in a high end DAC and I was stunned at how great my digital can sound.  I was using Amazon HD and it improved quite a bit, but CDs are a brand new experience.  I think the Pontus 15th and the Venus II 12th are similar if not the same machines.

Backup, backup, backup. And 1 should be offsite. I backup my website code, database and images to USB drives. I give copies to my shooting buddies. They keep them in their safes. As do I.

@maam522a

You do not get any type of certificate, but HDTracks et al do keep records of your purchases.  The best thing to do, as @ibmjunkman suggests, is to have backups.  I have local and cloud backups of my music library.  This is also more easily accomplished with a NAS.

I think you're right about the Venus 12th being the platform for Pontus 15th - that value proposition was one of the reasons I jumped on it.  So glad I did!

I use a Eversolo dmp-a6 master streamer and store my Hires files in external memory and is installed inside the Eversol.
